Een bloemenkroon maak je door een passende basis van buigzaam bloemendraad te vormen en daar korte stelen en groen in kleine bundels op vast te zetten. Werk in één richting, zodat elke nieuwe bundel de bevestiging van de vorige bedekt. Met een haak-en-oogsluiting of lint kun je de maat aanpassen; kunstbloemen zijn geschikt voor een herbruikbare kroon.
Wat heb je nodig?
- Buigzaam bloemendraad voor de basis en dunner bloemendraad voor de bevestigingen.
- Bloementape (ook wel floristentape genoemd) om de draad en stelen af te werken.
- Bloemen en groen naar keuze.
- Een schaar of bloemenschaar en een geschikte draadtang om de draad te knippen.
Bloemendraad en bloementape zijn de basismaterialen die terugkomen in de instructies van Botanical Interests, Interflora en Whole Foods Market.

Hoe maak je de basis op maat?
- Houd de draad op de plek waar je de kroon wilt dragen rond het hoofd. Meet niet alleen de hoofdomtrek: kapsel en draaghoogte beïnvloeden de pasvorm. Houd extra draad over voor een sluiting. Botanical Interests adviseert een paar inch extra, terwijl Interflora een haaksluiting beschrijft.
- Vorm aan één uiteinde een lus. Buig de draad tot een ring en laat aan het andere uiteinde genoeg lengte over om later een haak te vormen of lint vast te maken.
- Wikkel bloementape rond de basis en over de uiteinden. Dek alle scherpe draadpunten af, zodat ze niet aan het haar blijven haken of de hoofdhuid krassen.
Hoe bevestig je bloemen en groen?
- Knip de bloemen en het groen vooraf af met korte stelen. Whole Foods noemt ongeveer 1,5–2 inch en Botanical Interests 1–2 inch; dat zijn voorbeelden uit hun instructies, geen vaste maat voor iedere bloem of kroon.
- Bevestig een stukje groen of een klein bundeltje aan de basis met dun bloemendraad of floristentape.
- Voeg de volgende bundel in dezelfde richting toe. Laat die over de stelen en bevestiging van de vorige bundel vallen, zodat de draad minder zichtbaar is.
- Werk zo verder rond de ring. Gebruik kleine bundels en houd de basis licht; knip overtollige draad af wanneer dat nodig is.
- Maak de laatste bundel vast en controleer of alle bevestigingen stevig zitten en de draad nergens uitsteekt.
Er is geen verplichte volgorde voor de bloemen. Floral designer Christy Doramus zegt in Estée Lauder’s instructie voor een bloemenkroon: “I often get asked, ‘How do you know which order to put the flowers in?’ My answer is to follow your instinct.”
Welke sluiting kies je?
- Haak en lus: maak aan het vrije uiteinde een haak die in de lus past. Die sluiting laat ruimte voor afstelling.
- Lint: laat aan beide kanten voldoende draad over om lint vast te maken; je kunt de pasvorm bij het dragen aanpassen.
- Vaste ring: verbind de uiteinden op maat wanneer je de juiste omtrek vooraf kent. Deze optie is eenvoudiger, maar biedt minder mogelijkheid om de maat later te veranderen.
Welke sluiting je ook kiest, werk de uiteinden af met tape en pas de kroon voorzichtig om te controleren of hij comfortabel zit.
