Enware’s South Australian education guidance separates toilet size by setting: junior pans for preschools and early-learning centres, and adult-size pans for primary and high schools. It identifies the IFO Junior Suite (IFO6820) as a low-height, freestanding child-size WC. That age-based choice is not the same as accessible design.

The same document treats disability-access toilets separately: pans are to be provided in accordance with AS 1428.1. A child-size pan can suit a young user’s proportions, but that fact alone does not make the pan accessible. Why “junior” and “accessible” are different decisions
Size answers a user-proportion question; accessibility answers a standards and usability question. A preschool may need junior pans for everyday users and a separate accessible cubicle designed to AS 1428.1. Conversely, a primary school may use adult-size pans while still requiring one or more accessible facilities.
Junior-size selection
- Matches the age group and typical leg reach of preschool children.
- Can be useful where a low-height, freestanding installation is part of the room layout.
- Does not establish wheelchair transfer clearances, grab-rail positions or other AS 1428.1 criteria.

Because the retrieved Enware material does not include the full text of AS 1428.1 or a complete compliance assessment, treat product-page statements as manufacturer information. Have the responsible access consultant, architect, plumber or building authority confirm the final arrangement.
Adult accessible products: related, but not freestanding examples

How to choose for a real project
- Identify the age group and facility type. For a South Australian preschool or early-learning project, start by checking whether a junior pan is required. For primary and high schools, begin with adult-size pans under the cited guidance.
- Map accessible facilities separately. Count the accessible rooms required by the brief and applicable regulations. Do not reduce that assessment to the question of junior versus adult size.

Using a junior pan as the accessible fixture

Quoting a standard without its edition or jurisdiction
The adult-versus-junior statement comes from South Australian guidance dated February 2023. Confirm whether a newer state document, education department brief or project standard applies before relying on it elsewhere in Australia.
Ignoring conflicting seat descriptions
