Figma’s AI tools broaden its role from collaborative interface design to AI-assisted design work and prompt-driven prototyping. That creates overlap with some creative and website-building tasks, but the available evidence does not show that Figma replaces Adobe’s creative workflows or WordPress’s publishing ecosystem; Canva’s current AI capabilities could not be verified in this research.
The practical choice depends on the job: use Figma for collaborative design and prototypes, Adobe Firefly for creative generation and editing, and WordPress.com when you need to build and maintain a hosted website. Verify current features and plan access before choosing.

What Figma’s AI expansion means
Figma describes AI across its product family, including a conversational agent, Figma Make, and focused tools for image editing, text changes, and visual search. Its help documentation says the agent can generate designs, make edits, apply design systems, provide feedback, and handle busywork in design files.
Figma Make is described as a code editor for prototyping, either from an existing codebase or from scratch. That makes it useful for exploring an idea or demonstrating an interaction, but does not establish that the result is ready to operate as production software or a complete website.

Figma also announced MCP-enabled agents that can write to Figma files and use design-system context. The announcement described the feature as free during beta and said it would eventually become usage-based paid functionality. Where Adobe overlaps—and where it differs
Figma and Adobe overlap in visual exploration and asset creation. Adobe describes Firefly as a service for generating and editing images, video, audio, and designs using Adobe and partner models, with integrations into Adobe applications. Adobe says its own Firefly models are commercially safe and trained on licensed Adobe Stock and public-domain content; these are Adobe’s claims, and they should not be generalized to partner models.

The available sources do not show that Firefly replaces Figma’s collaborative interface-design, design-system, and prototyping workflows. Nor do they establish that Figma replaces Adobe’s creative-production tools. Where WordPress fits
WordPress.com’s AI website builder uses prompts to create pages, layouts, images, and copy. Its product page says users can revise the result by prompt or manual editing and launch with hosting configured. The page describes the current AI build flow as suited to blogs, portfolios, service sites, and business pages; it does not include ecommerce in that flow, though WooCommerce can be added later. The builder is available with a paid WordPress.com plan, so check current plan rules before deciding.

This is a website-building and publishing workflow, not simply a design canvas. WordPress.com is the hosted service; WordPress.org represents the open-source WordPress project. Keep that distinction clear when comparing Figma with “WordPress.”
How to choose
- Define the output. Decide whether you need design exploration, editable creative assets, an interactive prototype, or a live site that you will maintain.
- Check the workflow. For Figma, confirm that the required AI tools are available for your plan, seat, and file permissions. For WordPress.com, check hosting and plan requirements. For Adobe, identify which Firefly model and application integrations you need.
- Test editability and control. Determine whether the result can be revised manually, fits your existing design system, and gives your team the control the project requires.
- Review the result before launch. A convincing prototype or generated site is not, by itself, evidence that the result is production-ready. Check it against your project’s operational, content, and quality requirements.
