Walmart listed its white Mainstays Cordless Vinyl Light Filtering Window Blind, sized 23 inches wide by 64 inches long, for $6.73 when checked on October 3, 2026. That makes it a low-cost option for a window that needs privacy and softened daylight—but it is not a blackout blind, and its vinyl slats may not suit a household that needs a more durable treatment.
What Walmart’s $7 blind is—and what it does
The Mainstays blind is a basic white vinyl mini blind with 1-inch slats. It has a cordless lift: raise or lower it by moving the bottom rail, and use the wand to tilt the slats. Walmart describes the finish as smooth and the fabric-like “sheerness” as light filtering; the retailer says it can be wiped clean. Walmart’s listing identifies the exact 23-by-64-inch size.

Light filtering means daylight is softened, not eliminated. Hunker likewise notes that this is not a blackout covering. It can make sense for a room where you want basic privacy and less direct light, but choose a blackout blind or another room-darkening treatment if you need darkness for sleep, shift work, or media viewing.
Measure the window before ordering
The listed dimensions are for one specific size, not a promise that it fits every 23-inch window. Walmart’s listing advises deducting 1/4 inch from the window-opening width for an inside mount. For fuller outside-mount coverage, it advises adding 3 inches to the overall width. Those are the retailer’s sizing notes; confirm your measurements and follow the included instructions rather than assuming the blind will fit without adjustment.

How the price and reviews compare
Walmart displayed a price of $6.73 for the 23-by-64-inch listing on October 3, 2026. The retailer cautions that prices may vary online, in stores, and in its app, so treat that amount as a dated listing price rather than a guaranteed price.
Hunker reported that same-size blinds typically cost around $10 to $20, with some reaching $50. That is Hunker’s reported comparison, not a live or comprehensive survey of current alternatives. The practical advantage is straightforward: at the displayed price, replacing a blind that does not fit or gets damaged costs less than it would with a higher-priced option.

These are customer-review signals, not a durability test or a guarantee of how the blind will perform in your home.

Consider it for a simple, low-cost window covering
If the size works and you want softened daylight with basic privacy, the cordless lift and low listed price make this a reasonable budget choice. Hunker describes moisture resistance and suggests kitchens or bathrooms as possible locations, but that does not establish that the blind is waterproof or guarantees privacy. For a bathroom window facing a street or neighboring property, assess sightlines and consider a more secure privacy treatment.

Look elsewhere if you need darkness or extra toughness
Because it filters rather than blocks light, it is a poor match for a room that needs blackout conditions. Hunker’s reported breakage complaints also matter if the blind will face rough handling. Neither Walmart’s listing nor the review summaries establish that the slats will withstand pets or children; weigh the low replacement cost against the risk of damage in your household.
Is Walmart’s $7 blind worth buying?
It is worth considering when you have measured the window, want a basic light-filtering vinyl blind, and are comfortable with a product whose customer reviews include breakage complaints. The $6.73 listing price and rating count are snapshots, not permanent terms. If your priority is room darkening, proven toughness, or privacy in a sensitive sightline, choose a treatment designed for that job instead.
