For free arrow clip art, start with downloadable SVG or PNG listings from OpenClipart, or choose an individual arrow file on Wikimedia Commons. Before using any image, check its file page for the current license and attribution requirements: a free download does not automatically mean every asset has the same reuse terms.
Where to find free arrow clip art
OpenClipart has an “arrow” listing with SVG and PNG downloads. Its “open arrows” listing describes arrows pointing outward and also offers SVG and PNG. These are examples to explore, not guarantees that a particular file or format will always be available.
Wikimedia Commons provides individual arrow files, including Dart arrow.svg and Arrow Drawing.svg. Each file page records information about that specific asset; check it rather than assuming all Commons images share one license.

Choose SVG or PNG for your project

A Creative Commons case study of the Open Clip Art Library explains the choice of SVG this way: “The SVG (vector) format for images was chosen to ensure scalability and easy modification of clip arts.” That describes the library’s format choice; it does not determine the license of an individual download.

Open the exact file’s page and read its current license and attribution requirements before placing the graphic in a document, presentation, web page, or other design. Two specific Wikimedia Commons examples—Dart arrow.svg and Arrow Drawing.svg—identify their files as CC0. Those examples do not establish that every image on Commons or OpenClipart has the same terms.

The Creative Commons Wiki’s “Case Studies/Open clip art library” page describes the collection as public domain and discusses its use of SVG. That collection-level historical account is useful context, but the individual file’s license record is the relevant place to verify the terms for a particular download.

How to choose the right arrow graphic
- Direction: Find an arrow pointing the way your graphic needs, including outward-pointing options if you need arrows radiating away from a point.
- Shape and style: Match the arrow’s outline, weight, and visual style to the surrounding artwork.
- Format: Prefer SVG if you need to scale or modify vector artwork; use PNG if raster artwork fits the destination and its dimensions are adequate.
