Free autumn PNG images are available from galleries and individual download pages, including cutout leaves, pumpkins and fall foliage. Before using one, check the exact file’s pixel dimensions, whether its background is actually transparent, and the license for your intended use: “free” does not automatically mean free for commercial work.

How to choose the right file
Match the subject and composition
Look at the actual artwork rather than relying on a broad autumn label. A single leaf cutout may suit a painting overlay or card, while pumpkins and grouped foliage make a fuller decorative element. Check the preview for the shape, crop and visual style you need.

Check dimensions and download size
Pixel dimensions affect how large an image can appear without becoming visibly soft. The cited listings range from small individual leaves in PNGimg’s gallery to larger examples such as Pixabay’s 6000 × 4000 image and Pixnio’s 4864 × 3328 original. Those figures describe particular listings, not every file on those sites. If a page offers size choices, make sure the chosen download is large enough for your project; some pages distinguish a free standard file from a premium original.

Confirm the background in the downloaded file
PNG is a file format, not a promise that an image has a transparent background. A listing may advertise transparency or offer a transparent PNG option, but confirm the actual downloaded file in your editing app: a checkerboard preview commonly indicates transparency, while a solid white or colored area may be part of the image.
Read the license for your intended use
Permissions differ by listing. StickPNG’s cited autumn-leaves page restricts the file to personal use, while Pixnio, Pixabay and Creative Fabrica describe other license terms. Do not infer that a file is public domain, commercially cleared or free of attribution requirements just because the download is free. Check the current license attached to the exact image, especially before using it in a painting, product, client project or other commercial work.
