You can download free Pokémon pumpkin patterns from Play Nintendo and find a larger, year-organized collection in the official Pokémon pumpkin-pattern archive. Current Play Nintendo designs include Mimikyu, Pumpkaboo, Gengar, Greavard, and Pikachu. The archive’s indexed 2025 listing names Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Kangaskhan, and Mega Sableye; because that archive page was not independently reachable here, confirm each file opens before printing.

Pokémon’s pattern archive
The official archive is organized by year from 2015 onward. Its currently indexed 2025 listing names Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Kangaskhan, and Mega Sableye. Treat those names as the archive’s surfaced listing rather than a guarantee that every individual download link is working.
Earlier official releases
The Pokémon Company’s October 20, 2023 release added 11 downloadable patterns: Greavard, Fuecoco, Sprigatito, Quaxly, Gimmighoul, Gourgeist, Mismagius, Polteageist, Scream Tail, Trevenant, and Wooper. That article also points to earlier Pikachu, Eevee, Mewtwo, Gengar, Mimikyu, Pumpkaboo, and other designs. A 2022 article highlights Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Pikachu, Eevee, Gastly, Gengar, Cubone, and Mimikyu.
#1 Best Overall
Choose a pattern that fits your pumpkin
| Choice | Best fit | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Broad, simple face | Wide pumpkins and first-time carvers | Larger cut areas and fewer fragile bridges make transfer and cutting easier. |
| Tall or narrow character | Vertical pumpkins | Measure the printable design against the pumpkin before taping it on. |
| Fine-detail pattern | Experienced carvers | Thin lines and small islands require careful pin marks and a small saw; a wood-carving kit can improve precision. |
| Paint or gem design | Young children or no-cut projects | No knife work is needed, but outdoor materials must be chosen with wildlife in mind. |
How to transfer and carve the stencil
- Print the pattern. Check that the character fits the pumpkin’s usable front surface.
- Trim the sheet. Cut around the stencil while leaving about a ½-inch paper border.
- Prepare the pumpkin. Cut a lid, remove the seeds and pulp, and scrape the inside reasonably smooth.
- Tape the stencil in place. Flatten the paper as much as the pumpkin’s curve allows.
- Make pin marks. With the paper still attached, poke the guideline about every 1/8 inch.
- Remove paper and tape. Brush away loose paper so the dotted outline remains visible.
- Cut on the outline. Use a small pumpkin-carving saw and steady, back-and-forth strokes. A pumpkin carving kit is optional; the pattern itself is free.
- Clean the edges. Use carving tools to smooth rough spots and remove stubborn fibers.
Children should ask a grown-up to help with scissors and all sharp tools. Keep the pumpkin stable on a flat surface, cut away from your hands, and let an adult handle difficult sections.

- Glow stick: an easy option for a short-lived display.
- Battery-powered light: useful when you want illumination without an open flame.
- Candle: use only with adult permission and normal candle-safety precautions; never leave it unattended.
If the pumpkin will sit outdoors, remember that wildlife may eat it. Avoid decorating materials that could be toxic to animals, and remove non-food embellishments before the pumpkin is accessible to wildlife.

No-carve Pokémon pumpkin ideas
Painted character
Use the printed stencil as a tracing guide, then fill the silhouette with ordinary paint. This works well for designs whose outlines are difficult to cut.
Glow-in-the-dark details
Paint eyes, symbols, or outlines with glow-in-the-dark paint for a no-knife nighttime effect. Follow the product’s drying and outdoor-use directions.
Rank #3
Rhinestone accents
Add rhinestones to eyes, spots, or a simple outline. Keep small pieces away from young children and do not leave loose pieces where animals can ingest them.
Quick project checklist
- Free printed Pokémon pattern
- Pumpkin whose height or width matches the design
- Tape and scissors
- Small carving saw or optional carving kit
- Scraping spoon and a stable work surface
- Glow stick, battery light, or supervised candle
- Adult help for every sharp-tool step
Choose the character first, match its proportions to your pumpkin, then decide whether carving, painting, or another decoration gives your household the safest and most enjoyable project.
