“Good luck starting work” is English wording used in some company announcements to mark employees’ return to work after a holiday, including Lunar New Year. The examples support reading it as a workplace good-wishes message in that setting—not as a phrase with a proven origin or universally fixed meaning.
What the phrase means in these announcements
In the company notices available, “good luck starting work” is a seasonal welcome and expression of encouragement for the beginning of a work period. One 2024 announcement from Guangzhou Guorui Scientific Instruments describes a formal gathering after Lunar New Year and uses the heading “GOOD LUCK STARTING WORK.” Read the company announcement.

You can use the phrase as a short greeting to someone returning to work after a break, especially when the occasion is a new-year workplace reopening. It has a warm, encouraging tone. The cited examples are company event wording; they do not establish that this is a standard English idiom or the usual greeting in every workplace.

For a more conversational message, you might write, “Good luck as you get back to work,” or “Wishing you a great start to the new year at work.” Those are suggested alternatives, not wording documented in the cited announcements.
Red envelopes and the workplace celebration
In the 2024 announcement, the company says it prepared red-envelope gifts for employees at its start-of-work gathering. A separate 2025 account of a factory renovation opening ceremony also reports red envelopes as tokens of good wishes. Read the PDKJ account. These examples show one way a workplace celebration may express goodwill; they do not make red envelopes necessary to use the phrase.

What is—and is not—established
The examples show the exact English phrase appearing in company-authored news and event material tied to work resuming or beginning a new year. They do not establish who coined it, how widespread it is, or whether it has one settled meaning across English-speaking regions. Treat it as contextual wording rather than a universally recognized expression.
