The right format depends on how your guests will receive the invitation. Canva documents both online sharing and downloading a design as a PDF for printing; its options are workflows, not evidence of a particular cost or quality advantage.

Personalize the design and greeting
Use a template as a starting point, then adjust its text, colors, fonts, and design elements to suit your gathering. Canva’s Eid al-Fitr card templates include varied styles such as minimalist, floral, decorative, and mosque-illustration designs. The collection is a source of options, not a set of required Hari Raya symbols or styles.
Canva’s Indonesian Lebaran page suggests adding elements such as family photos or a greeting. It gives “Minal Aidin Wal Faizin” as an example; that phrase is one option, not a universal requirement. The holiday is known in some places as Hari Raya Idul Fitri or Lebaran, so choose wording and language that feel appropriate for your guests. Put the practical details where guests can find them
There is no single required field list established here. As a practical matter, include the information a guest needs to attend:
- Who is hosting
- Date and start time
- Location, with any useful directions or access details
- An RSVP method or deadline, if you need guests to respond
Keep the text legible and give essential event information enough space. Before sharing a digital invitation or sending a PDF to print, check the spelling, date, time, and location.

Confirm the local celebration date before sending
Eid al-Fitr follows the sighting of the new moon, and the celebration can fall on different dates in different places. Confirm the expected date for the host’s location before finalizing the card, particularly if guests are in more than one region. Canva notes this date variation in its Eid al-Fitr card guidance.

Invitation designs can be simple, floral, decorative, or illustrated. Historical Malaysian examples show that Hari Raya cards have also used greeting text and kampung imagery: the Malaysia Design Archive’s 2024 finding aid records Selamat Hari Raya card examples from the 1960s. Those archival examples add historical context; they do not establish what people commonly use today or what a contemporary invitation must look like.
