How were the finalists selected?
Students across the United States and associated U.S. jurisdictions submitted artwork for the 2024 contest. Google first selected 55 state and territory winners. The public then voted among those entries, after which judges selected five national finalists—one from each grade group.
Judges considered the artwork, the student’s written statement, creativity and how effectively the entry addressed the “My wish for the next 25 years” prompt. The five finalists therefore should not be described simply as the entries chosen by public vote: public voting was one stage of a process that also included judging.
More than traditional drawings
The 2024 contest expanded beyond the usual paint-and-draw format. Students could also submit work in categories including Film & Stop Motion, VR Painting and Sculpt & Build. That distinction matters when describing the finalists: Vivian’s “No More Hunger,” for example, is identified as a clay sculpture rather than a conventional drawing.

What this finalist gallery does—and does not—show
These five entries are the U.S. national finalists for the 2024 contest, not five overall national winners. Google’s June 10, 2024 announcement discussed a national winner as a later step, but that contemporaneous wording should not be treated as a current announcement. This gallery focuses on the finalist stage and does not assign an overall winner.
Google’s official announcement is the source for the students’ published names, grade groups, locations, titles, award categories and contest descriptions. The students are identified there by first name only, so no surnames, schools or ages are added here.
