teamLab Borderless is a digital art museum in Tokyo where artworks can move between rooms, interact with one another and, in some cases, respond to what visitors do. There is no map or prescribed route: you explore by wandering through a connected environment, with a few works inviting direct participation.
What is teamLab Borderless in Tokyo?
teamLab Borderless: MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM is at Azabudai Hills Garden Plaza B B1 in Minato, Tokyo. It first opened in Odaiba in 2018 and reopened at its current location in 2024. The museum describes it as “a world of art without boundaries, a museum without a map.” (Official visitor page; official FAQ)
Unlike a conventional gallery organized around a fixed sequence of labeled rooms, Borderless has no set route and provides no map. Digital works may move from one space to another, connect or influence one another, and sometimes intermingle. The museum’s official FAQ describes the experience as “wander, explore, and discover in one continuous world without boundaries.”

How does the museum make visitors part of the art?
Participation takes different forms. Some works react to visitors, while other activities let people add their own creations to a shared digital scene. It does not mean every artwork is controlled by each visitor; what is available can vary with season, crowds and maintenance.
Explore and learn through the app
There are no artwork captions in the venue because works move across spaces. The teamLab app can show the concept behind a nearby work and supports certain interactive functions, including participation in Infinite Crystal World. The app is a guide and an interaction tool for particular works, not a replacement for a venue map.

Add a drawing to Sketch Ocean
In Sketch Ocean, visitors color a fish or another creature, then see the drawing appear in a shared digital ocean alongside creations by other visitors. The creatures can move across artwork boundaries, linking an individual drawing to the larger environment. (Sketch Ocean)
Watch a digital flower bloom in EN TEA HOUSE
At EN TEA HOUSE, a digital flower blooms in the cup as tea is served. The official description says flowers continue to bloom as long as there is tea. This makes the drink part of the presentation rather than simply a refreshment beside the artworks. (EN TEA HOUSE)

Take a drawing home from Sketch Factory
Sketch Factory can turn drawings into physical items, including badges, hand towels, T-shirts, tote bags, papercraft, puzzles, stickers and magnets. These are onsite purchases; availability and specifications are not established here. (teamLab Borderless FAQ)
What to know before visiting
Check the date, hours and ticket availability
Opening hours and closure dates vary, and last entry is one hour before closing. Tickets are date- and time-specific and may sell out; adult prices are dynamic. Check the official visitor page and ticket calendar for your exact date rather than relying on a fixed price or schedule. Tickets generally cannot be canceled. The official ticketing-site terms allow limited date or time changes for qualifying direct purchases, so check the terms that apply to your booking.

Both are teamLab exhibitions, but they are not the same venue or format. Confirm current details for Planets independently before comparing itineraries. (teamLab Borderless FAQ)
