BrickLink’s Designer Program gives fans a way to submit digitally designed LEGO models for community voting and program review. A small number of designs may then move to crowdfunding and preorder; submitting an idea does not guarantee selection or production. The available information does not establish whether a new entry window is open, so check BrickLink’s official Designer Program page for current dates and rules before preparing an entry.
What the BrickLink Designer Program is
The BrickLink Designer Program is a fan-design initiative associated with BrickLink, not a route for any submitted idea to become a standard LEGO retail set. Fans create models, designs go through community voting and review, and selected projects may be offered for crowdfunding and preorder. The program overview describes five designs moving forward in its selection process; that is background on the program, not a guaranteed number for every future round. BrickLink’s program page is the official place to check for current information, though the page’s substantive rules and dates could not be confirmed here.

How the design and selection process works
1. Create a digital model
The program overview identifies BrickLink Studio as the tool for creating a digital model. The described workflow is digital; it does not establish a requirement to build a physical prototype. Builders may use LEGO building bricks to test an idea by hand, but that is an optional practical step rather than a verified program rule. Check the official page for any current file, model, or submission requirements.
2. Submit during an eligible entry window
Entry dates, eligibility, submission limits, and detailed design rules were not verified. Do not assume submissions are open simply because the program exists. Confirm the active round and its requirements on the official Designer Program page before investing time in a submission.
#1 Best Overall
- The first edition of BrickLink Designer 2024 includes this set

- Produced in limited quantity of 30,000, only available in 30 countries
- The BLDP program is an initiative of BrickLink, owned by the LEGO Group
- The set consists of 1906 blocks and contains 5 minifigures
3. Designs go through voting and review
The program overview describes community voting followed by program review. It does not provide current judging criteria or enough detail to say how voting is weighted, how reviewers make decisions, or whether every round uses identical rules. Those specifics should be checked in the rules for the round you intend to enter.
4. Selected designs may reach crowdfunding
Selection is not the same as a guarantee that a set will be produced. The overview says selected models proceed to a crowdfunding and preorder stage, so production depends on that process rather than on submission or selection alone. The length of the preorder period, funding requirements, and other current terms were not established.

What to verify before you enter
- Whether a submission window is currently open and its deadline.
- Who is eligible to enter, including any age or location limits.
- What models, parts, or design themes are allowed and how many entries are permitted.
- Which digital files or other materials must be submitted, and whether physical prototypes are requested.
- How voting and review work, what rights you grant, and what happens if your design is selected.
- How crowdfunding, preorder timing, and production are handled for the current round.
These details can vary by round and were not confirmed in the accessible current program information. Use the official BrickLink Designer Program page as the starting point, and rely on the rules linked for the specific round rather than historical summaries.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Entering is different from buying a set
There are two separate paths: submitting a fan design and purchasing a selected design if it reaches preorder. The program overview describes the resulting sets as available for a limited time through BrickLink, but it does not establish current preorder dates, availability, or purchasing terms. If you are interested in buying rather than designing, check the relevant round’s official preorder information instead of assuming a past schedule will repeat.
