To compose a song with AI voice and words, write or refine a lyric, describe the vocal and musical direction in a prompt, generate a vocal song, then revise the words and arrangement until the performance fits. Suno, Udio, and Mureka each list vocal song generation; their listed editing and voice workflows differ, so choose based on the kind of control you need.
What You Need To Decide Before Generating
Words and voice have to work together: syllable count, stress, pauses, and repeated phrases affect whether a lyric feels singable. Start with a short brief that fixes the song’s purpose and emotional direction before you ask a model to arrange it.
- Keep the lyric focused: Write a central idea and a hook that can be repeated. Use concrete images and language you would actually say.
- Mark the structure: Label sections such as verse, chorus, and bridge in your draft so the intended progression is clear. Do not assume a tool will follow section labels exactly; listen to the result.
- Describe the vocal: Specify qualities such as intimate or forceful delivery, close or spacious production, and whether you want a solo voice or layered sound. These are prompt directions, not guaranteed controls.
- Describe the backing: Name the broad style, energy, tempo feel, and a few instruments that support the lyric. Check the chosen product’s site for whether it supports a particular genre, language, or vocal treatment.

Compose The Song Step By Step
- Draft a singable lyric. Write a verse and chorus around one clear idea. Keep the chorus shorter and more repetitive than the verse. Read the lines aloud; rewrite crowded phrases that are hard to say in one breath.
- Choose the generation tool. Use Suno for its listed section replacement and stem export, Udio for lyric editing and voice-reference blending, or Mureka for its listed voice cloning and multitrack workflow. Verify current availability and plan requirements on the product site before building a workflow around a feature.
- Write a specific prompt. Put the song premise, desired mood, vocal delivery, broad musical style, backing instruments, and section order in plain language. For example: “A reflective song about leaving a familiar place; intimate solo vocal, restrained opening, warm guitar and soft drums, then a wider repeated chorus. Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, final chorus. Use the supplied lyrics.” Treat this as a creative brief, not a promise that every detail will be followed.
- Generate a first pass. Supply your lyrics where the tool supports lyric input and ask for a vocal song. Listen for whether the words are intelligible, the chorus is memorable, and the vocal tone fits the subject. If a specific language or genre matters, confirm support with the vendor; the available product descriptions do not establish either for every tool.
- Fix the lyric before changing everything else. Note the exact line that sounds awkward, then shorten it, change its stresses, or replace an unclear image. Make one targeted change per new version so you can tell whether the vocal phrasing improved.
- Revise the musical sections. If using Suno, its listing includes section replacement, editing, remixing, and extensions. If using Udio, its listing includes lyric editing, transformations, extensions, and Sessions. Mureka lists remixing, extensions, and multitrack editing. Use only the controls available in your account and consult each vendor’s instructions for the exact steps.
- Prepare the finished version. Listen from beginning to end, checking transitions, lyric clarity, and whether the final chorus resolves the song. Export or download only through options currently offered by the service; Udio lists downloads as disabled during its transition period.
Use Voice References And Cloning Carefully
Udio lists voice-reference blending, and Mureka lists voice cloning. Use a voice reference or clone only when you have the speaker’s consent, and check the platform’s current terms for voice use, output rights, and any limits.
