You can create a complete song with AI by writing a clear brief, choosing a generator that supports the kind of material you need, then refining the result in focused passes. For a first project, decide whether you want vocals, lyrics, or an instrumental; generate a draft; make targeted changes; and export only after checking the tool’s current download and usage terms.
1. Decide What You Want The Track To Do
Start with the job the music needs to perform. A song with a lead vocal has different needs from background music for an illustration reel: the first needs a lyrical point of view and room for the voice, while the second may need an instrumental arrangement that leaves space for visuals or narration. Those are creative choices, not settings every generator is confirmed to offer.

- Instrumental: Describe the role of the track, its energy, and the kinds of parts you want, such as drums, bass, or melody.

3. Write A Prompt With Musical Roles
Give the generator a compact set of decisions instead of a pile of loosely related adjectives. A useful prompt describes the purpose of the track, vocal or instrumental format, mood, energy, arrangement movement, and any specific parts. These are prompt-writing suggestions; the products do not all document each item as a dedicated control.
For an instrumental draft, try: “Create an instrumental cue for a hand-painted fantasy landscape reveal. Begin sparse, bring in a steady drum pattern and warm bass, then add a clear melodic line for a brighter middle section. Keep the overall mood reflective and hopeful.”
For a vocal draft, try: “Write a concise, uplifting song about finishing a personal art project after a difficult stretch. Use a first-person perspective, a memorable repeated chorus, and a gradual lift from a restrained opening to a fuller final section. Use original lyrics.”

Use only details the tool can reasonably interpret from a prompt. If exact timing, meter, instrumentation, or a specific musical style is essential, confirm the generator’s supported controls on its site rather than assuming the wording will enforce it. For tools that support reference audio, use a reference you have permission to use and describe what you want to carry over; do not assume a reference grants rights to reproduce its voice or composition.

- Generate a first version. Keep the initial brief simple enough that you can tell whether the central idea worked. Save or note what you entered so you can compare later attempts.
- Listen for the main failure. Check whether the track fits its intended use, whether vocals are present when needed, and whether the arrangement develops in a way that supports the brief.
- Change one thing. If the mood is right but the structure feels static, ask for a stronger build. If the lyrics miss the point, revise the story or lines. Changing one element at a time makes the result easier to judge.
- Use editing features where available. Do not assume that AI-generated lyrics are original or cleared for every use.
For an instrumental, listen to the parts as a whole and decide whether the arrangement leaves enough space for the project it serves. 7. Export And Make A Final Listening Pass
Listen to the exported file from beginning to end in the context where it will be used. Check that the opening starts at the right moment, the ending does not feel abruptly cut off, and the vocal or instrumental balance works on your intended device. If you need a final master, the tools listed here do not establish a universal mastering step for every workflow. Check your editing setup and the generator’s export options instead of assuming the generated file is publication-ready.
For video or visual work, test the track against the actual edit. A musical transition that sounds natural by itself may land too early or late against a scene change. If the timing needs attention, return to an editing feature the product supports or continue in a separate audio workflow whose capabilities you have verified. Save the final export with a clear version name and retain the project or source material needed for further changes.
