Use Adobe’s official Photoshop free-trial page rather than a website offering a cracked installer, key generator, torrent, or “pre-activated” copy. Those unofficial versions are not legitimate Adobe distribution channels and can expose your Windows account, files, and payment information to unnecessary risk.

Before you install: check Windows 11 compatibility

How to check the basics in Windows 11
- Open Settings with Windows + I.
- Go to System > About to see your Windows edition, processor, and installed RAM.
- Return to System and select Storage to check available disk space.
- To inspect your graphics hardware, right-click the Start button, choose Device Manager, and expand Display adapters.
Windows’ normal system-information screens may not clearly show whether a processor supports AVX2 or whether a GPU meets every DirectX 12 feature requirement. If your PC is close to the minimum, compare its exact model with Adobe’s requirements before beginning the trial.
How to download Photoshop legally for free
Step 1: Open Adobe’s official trial page
Go to Adobe’s official Photoshop free-trial page and select Start free trial. Check the page carefully before submitting the order because Adobe’s pricing, plan options, taxes, and promotional terms can vary by country and change over time.
The official trial requires:
- an Adobe ID, which you can create during signup;
- billing information; and
- acceptance of the applicable plan and subscription terms.
The trial gives you the full desktop Photoshop application for seven days. It is more accurate to say “try Photoshop free for seven days” than “Photoshop is free.”

Step 2: Download Creative Cloud for Windows
Adobe distributes Photoshop through the Creative Cloud desktop application. After beginning the trial, download the Windows Creative Cloud installer from Adobe. Adobe identifies the installer as Creative_Cloud_Set-Up.exe.
- Sign in to Adobe if prompted.
- Download the installer from Adobe’s website.
- Open
Creative_Cloud_Set-Up.exe. - Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
Adobe’s Creative Cloud desktop installation instructions are the appropriate reference if the labels or screens differ from those shown on your PC.
Step 3: Install Photoshop from Creative Cloud
- Open the Creative Cloud desktop app after installation.
- Sign in with the Adobe ID used to start the trial.
- Open the Apps tab.
- Find Photoshop and choose Install. Depending on the signup screen, Adobe may label the initial button Download instead.
- Allow the installation to finish, then launch Photoshop from Creative Cloud, the Start menu, or a desktop shortcut.
Keep enough free storage available during installation. Photoshop also needs working internet connectivity for activation, registration, subscription validation, and some online services. A temporary loss of internet access after installation may not have the same effect as a failed initial activation or a subscription-validation problem.
Step 4: Test the installation during the trial
Open Photoshop and try the tasks that matter to you before the seven days expire: opening your usual file types, using your preferred brushes or plug-ins, exporting a test image, and checking whether your computer remains responsive with your normal documents.
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee identical performance across every project. Large documents, many layers, high-resolution displays, plug-ins, and limited free storage can all affect how comfortable the application feels. If you only want the free trial, cancel it before the seven-day period ends. Adobe’s documented cancellation path for a plan purchased directly from Adobe is:
- Sign in to your Adobe account.
- Open Manage plan.
- Select Cancel your plan.
- Complete the cancellation screens and confirm.

If you purchased through a third party rather than directly from Adobe, the cancellation rules and process may be different. Use that seller’s account system or support channel. Adobe says refund eligibility depends on the plan and timing. Krita: strongest fit for digital painting and illustration
