Start by identifying the exact Polaroid model: cameras from different generations can use different film, power sources, indicators and reset steps. For a Polaroid Now, check its charge and film compatibility, reseat the film pack if the darkslide will not eject, then use the instructions for that specific generation. A camera that will not take a picture can have several causes, so the symptom alone does not prove the camera is broken.

Identify the camera and film before troubleshooting
Read the model name on the camera and consult its exact manual. Polaroid’s manual archive includes current and older camera families; some manuals cover more than one similar model. Do not assume that a loading, indicator or reset instruction for a recent Polaroid Now also applies to a vintage camera.
For the Polaroid Now, Polaroid says it “works best with i-Type film, but it can also be used with 600.” Check your camera’s film compatibility before buying or loading a pack; the Now’s compatibility does not establish that either format works in every Polaroid camera. See Polaroid’s Now film guidance.

If the camera will not turn on, check its power
Polaroid Now charging
A Polaroid Now may not arrive fully charged. According to Polaroid’s charging instructions, its battery indicator flashes while charging and turns off when charging is complete; a full charge usually takes about two hours through a wall socket.
Match the cable to the camera’s generation: earlier Now cameras use Micro USB, while the Now Gen 2 support page specifies USB-C. Check the port on your camera rather than assuming the connector. If it still will not power on after charging with the correct cable, consult the exact manual or Polaroid support.

If the darkslide will not eject, reseat the film pack
On a Polaroid Now, load the film pack with the darkslide facing up and its tab toward you, push the pack fully into the camera, then close the film door. If the darkslide does not eject, Polaroid’s first-photo guide recommends removing and reinserting the pack, making sure it is pushed all the way in.
If reseating does not help, weak power or a camera or film-pack problem is still possible. Avoid forcing the door or pack; use the manual for your model before trying other steps.

If a picture does not eject after the darkslide
First check the remaining shot count, then follow the manual for the exact camera. Recent Polaroid Now manuals describe model-specific counter and battery indicators; their meanings should not be applied to older cameras.
Polaroid lists a weak camera or film-pack battery, a camera defect, and corroded or soiled contacts among possible causes of ejection problems. Power arrangements differ: newer i-Type cameras use the camera battery for flash and ejection, while vintage cameras use the battery in the film pack. See Polaroid’s film-ejection troubleshooting. If the correct film is seated and the camera has adequate power but still will not eject, contact Polaroid support about model-specific service or repair.

The manual is available through Polaroid’s camera manual archive.

Choose the next step by what happened
| What you observe | First check | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| No power or no response | Charge a rechargeable Now with the cable that matches its port; consult the exact manual for other models. | Power is one possible cause; the symptom alone does not establish a hardware fault. |
| Camera responds, but the Now darkslide does not eject | Confirm compatible film and reseat the pack fully, darkslide up and tab toward you. | If reseating does not help, weak power or a camera or pack fault remains possible. |
| Darkslide ejected, but a later photo will not | Check the shot count and the exact model’s indicator guidance. | Recent Now indicator meanings should not be generalized to vintage models. |
| Correct loading and adequate power do not resolve ejection | Use the model-specific manual and contact Polaroid support. | A persistent fault may require service; troubleshooting symptoms cannot identify a single repair. |
