Build this soft sage-and-blush spring wreath on a 24-inch wire wreath form. Cut artificial lamb’s ear into individual stems, wire and tape the greenery around the frame, fill the gaps with white berries, then add blush faux flowers and secure their stems on the back. The original project uses artificial materials, so the arrangement can be assembled ahead of the season and adjusted without the short vase life of fresh flowers.

What this wreath looks like and how the design is built
The finished wreath has three visual layers. Sage-toned lamb’s ear creates the muted base, white berries add small points of brightness between the leaves, and blush flowers provide the larger focal shapes. Keeping those layers in that order is what gives the arrangement an airy spring look instead of a crowded bundle.
The specified structure is a 24-inch wire wreath form. A wire form lets you pass stems through the frame and fasten them from the reverse side, so the front stays relatively clean. Florist wire and floral tape are the primary fasteners for the greenery and berries; the flower stems are also pulled through the frame and wired at the back.

The project comes from Bless’er House’s DIY Sage and Blush Spring Wreath, published in 2019 and updated in 2023. Lauren describes her own result as “Easy and done in under an hour!” That is her personal project report, not a guaranteed time for every maker. Cutting, arranging and reworking stems can take longer, especially if you are new to wiring wreaths.
Materials for the sage-and-blush palette
The original supply list names the materials below. It does not give a required stem count for any flower or greenery type, so plan by coverage and balance rather than by an assumed number of pieces.
| Material | Role in the wreath | Use and notes |
|---|---|---|
| 24-inch wire wreath form | Structural base | The specified frame size. Choose a sturdy wire form that gives you several points for fastening stems. |
| Artificial lamb’s ear stems and bush | Sage-green foundation | Separate the bush and cut the longer material into individual stems before arranging. |
| Artificial white berry bush | Light-colored filler | Separate into individual stems and place in the spaces left between lamb’s ear pieces. |
| Artificial peony stem | Blush focal flower | Use as one of the larger flowers that establishes the color story. |
| Similar artificial dahlia stem | Blush focal flower | A second flower shape keeps the face of the wreath from looking too uniform. |
| Artificial ranunculus stem | Blush focal flower | Adds another rounded flower form within the blush group. |
| Artificial garden rose bush | Blush floral volume | Separate usable stems from the bush and reserve them for the final placement pass. |
| Floral wire | Mechanical fastening | Use to tie greenery, berries and flower stems to the wire frame. |
| Floral tape | Stem and wire finishing | Wrap joins where you need a neater, more stable bundle. |
| Floral cutters | Preparation tool | Cut artificial stems into manageable lengths before you begin composing. |
Exact quantities, current product numbers and a dependable total budget are not stated in the project. A 2019 shopping trip mentioned 50%-off faux florals at Michaels, but that was a historical sale and should not be treated as a current price or promotion.
Prepare the frame and stems before arranging
1. Set up a work area
Lay the wire form flat with the front facing up and keep the back accessible for fastening. Put the cutters, floral wire and tape within reach. Work on a surface where you can turn the wreath over without knocking loose stems out of position.
2. Divide the artificial greenery
Cut the lamb’s ear bush and stems into individual usable pieces. Remove excess length that would make a stem difficult to thread through the frame, but leave enough stem to pass through the wire and bend or tie on the back. Keep the pieces in a loose pile rather than trimming every stem to exactly the same length; small variations help the wreath look organic.

3. Separate the berries and flowers
Break the white berry bush into individual stems. Do the same with the garden rose bush if its flowers are joined on a shared branch. Leave the peony, dahlia and ranunculus stems intact until you begin the focal-flower pass, then cut only as much excess stem as needed for a secure attachment.
Step-by-step: assemble the wreath in three layers
Step 1: Place lamb’s ear around the wire form
Start with the greenery, not the flowers. Distribute individual lamb’s ear stems around the circumference of the frame, turning some leaves outward and some toward the center. Step back frequently and check that the sage color is spread around the entire ring rather than concentrated on one side.

Add floral tape over a wire join when you want the fastening to behave as a tighter bundle. Keep the back ties snug but avoid crushing the stem; you may need to reposition a piece after viewing the front from a distance.
Step 2: Fill the open spaces with white berries
Add the separated berry stems after the lamb’s ear is stable. Tuck them into the visible gaps so they act as small highlights between the larger leaves. Vary the direction slightly, but keep the berries close enough to the greenery that they read as part of the same arrangement.
Thread each berry stem through the wire form and secure it on the reverse side with floral wire. If a berry cluster is top-heavy, use a second tie point rather than forcing the stem to lie flat. The aim is a front-facing cluster with no loose stem showing through the center of the wreath.

Step 3: Add blush flowers last
Lay the peony, dahlia, ranunculus and garden-rose pieces on top of the greenery and berries before permanently fastening them. Begin with the largest or most visually dominant blooms, then use the smaller shapes to connect them. Uneven spacing is useful, but avoid placing every flower at the same clock position on the ring.

Bend or trim excess stem only after you are satisfied with the front. Turn the wreath over to check that no sharp wire ends project beyond the frame, then cover or bend them inward so they cannot catch on a door or wall.
Step 4: Make a final front-and-back inspection
Hold the wreath upright at the height where it will hang. Look for bare sections, flowers that point directly into one another, and berry clusters hidden behind leaves. Make small changes by loosening a back tie, rotating a stem and fastening it again. Finish by checking every attachment from the reverse side; a beautiful front is not finished if stems can slide out when the wreath is moved.
How to create balance without exact stem counts
Because the project does not prescribe quantities, use visual coverage as your guide. First make sure the sage base reads continuously around the frame. Then add berries only where they improve a gap or brighten a dark area. Finally, place blush blooms in an irregular rhythm that gives the eye several stopping points.
- Use size contrast: let larger peony or dahlia heads establish the main visual anchors, with ranunculus and rose shapes helping transition into the greenery.
- Repeat colors around the ring: avoid putting all the blush flowers in one tight patch unless you deliberately want a crescent-shaped design.
- Protect negative space: the white berries should remain visible as accents, not become a solid white band.
- Check the silhouette: view the wreath from the side as well as straight on so one stem does not protrude much farther than the others.
Choosing supplies when you shop
The named base and palette are more important than matching a particular manufacturer. Use the following criteria when comparing available supplies.

| Shopping decision | What to look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Frame size | A 24-inch wire wreath form | This is the size used by the project and determines how much surface you have for the three layers. |
| Greenery texture | Artificial lamb’s ear with a sage or dusty green tone | The muted foliage establishes the wreath’s dominant color and soft texture. |
| Berry color | White berry stems with separable branches | Individual pieces are easier to distribute between greenery stems. |
| Blush flowers | Several flower shapes in a compatible blush family | Variation in petal form creates focal points without changing the palette. |
| Attachment method | Stems that can pass through the wire frame | Threadable stems support the wire-and-tape method used in the design. |
| Cutting tool | Floral cutters sized for artificial stems | Clean cuts make stems easier to position and fasten. |
A practical search phrase for the structural base is “24 inch wire wreath form.” For tools, “floral cutter kit” is a useful category search. You can also search for “artificial lamb’s ear stems,” “blush faux flowers” and “floral wire and tape.” These phrases identify categories, not required brands or guaranteed current inventory.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Wire and tape versus optional hot glue
The sage-and-blush design specifies florist wire and tape, with flower stems wired on the back. That approach allows you to loosen and reposition a piece while you are balancing the front. It also keeps the main attachment method consistent across greenery, berries and flowers.
A separate beginner project from Michaels demonstrates cutting stems, clustering them on a grapevine wreath and securing them with hot glue, plus a ribbon loop and bow. Those are optional techniques from a different wreath design, not required steps for this 24-inch wire-form project. If you adapt hot glue, test the bond on a spare stem first and remember that a glued placement is less convenient to revise than a wired one.
Optional finishing touches
Ribbon is not on the exact project’s supply list, but it can change how the wreath hangs or add another accent color. Hobby Lobby’s spring wreath guidance treats ribbon as a finishing accent alongside the frame and flowers. Add a hanging loop or bow only after the floral composition is complete so the ribbon does not dictate where your focal flowers must go.
Keep any added ribbon subordinate to the sage, white and blush palette. A narrow loop at the back is the least disruptive option; a large bow becomes a new focal point and may require moving flowers to keep the wreath visually balanced.

Troubleshooting common assembly problems
The wreath looks sparse
Return to the greenery layer rather than immediately adding more flowers. Rotate the wreath and identify the areas where the wire frame is most visible. Add or reposition lamb’s ear there, then use berries to soften the remaining small gaps.
The front looks crowded
Remove a few berry stems or move one blush bloom outward. The design depends on three distinguishable layers; when every opening is filled, the berries lose their accent role and the flowers compete with one another.
A flower keeps tipping forward
Turn the wreath over and add a firmer wire tie at the stem’s attachment point. If the stem is unusually long, shorten the excess only after the flower is in its final position. A second tie point can stabilize a heavy head without adding another visible element to the front.

Wire ends are visible from the front
Untwist the fastening from the back, pull the stem closer to the frame and retie it. Bend the cut wire inward and cover a rough join with floral tape. Do not leave an exposed point where it can catch clothing or a door surface.
The colors do not look balanced
Temporarily remove the blush flowers and evaluate the sage-and-white base by itself. Reinstall the flowers in different positions, spacing the largest heads apart and using the smaller blooms to bridge the gaps. Photographing the wreath from a few steps away can reveal a heavy side that is difficult to see up close.
Time, cost and what is actually known
The only stated timing is Lauren’s account that her wreath was “done in under an hour.” It is not an independently measured benchmark, and the project does not provide a current itemized budget. Costs will depend on the frame, the number and quality of faux stems available where you shop, and whether you already own cutters, wire and tape.
For an honest shopping plan, budget by category rather than relying on an old sale price: one 24-inch wire form, enough lamb’s ear to cover the ring, berry stems for the open spaces, a selection of blush flowers, and the fastening supplies. The 50%-off Michaels sale mentioned in the 2019 account should not be used to predict what the same materials cost today.
Display and adjustment checklist
- Confirm the frame is the 24-inch wire form specified for the design.
- Check that the sage greenery is distributed before adding any flowers.
- Use white berries as fillers between, not replacements for, the greenery.
- Place blush flowers only after the base looks balanced.
- Wire stems on the reverse side and bend or cover sharp ends.
- Lift the wreath by the frame and gently shake it once to reveal loose attachments.
- View it straight on and from the side before hanging.
Following that sequence preserves the character of the original sage-and-blush arrangement while leaving room to adjust stem length, density and flower placement to suit your own door or wall.
