To make a choir practice track with AI, start with the choir’s written score, export it as MusicXML, then use a score-to-vocal tool to generate the parts singers need to learn. Prepare The Score Before Generating Audio
Use the version of the score your choir will rehearse. Check that the notes, key signature, time signature, lyrics, and part assignments are correct before exporting. MusicXML carries score information into the synthesis workflow; it gives the tool a musical source to follow rather than asking it to invent a melody from a description.
- Confirm which parts are present. SATB means soprano, alto, tenor, and bass; a piece with fewer parts should be checked against the actual score instead of assuming a full SATB arrangement.
- Check that lyrics are attached to the intended notes and syllables. A wrong syllable-to-note alignment can make a useful pitch guide hard to follow.
- Review ties, rests, repeats, and measures at the beginning and end of the excerpt. Select the passage the choir needs, and verify that the generated audio starts and stops where expected.

If you only have a recording or a PDF and no MusicXML score, the listed score-to-vocal tools do not establish an audio-to-choir-track or PDF-to-score workflow. Prepare a usable MusicXML file in notation software, or ask the music director or arranger for one. Check each vendor’s current site for supported import details and any notation requirements.

For a part-learning track, begin with SightSinger because its stated features specifically include SATB splitting and multitrack playback. Sinsy is a free score-based alternative with language and vocal controls, but the available details do not establish SATB splitting, part-isolated exports, or choir-rehearsal presets. Check its site for current instructions and whether its output suits your score.
Generate A Track In SightSinger
- Upload the MusicXML score. Choose the file for the correct arrangement and inspect the imported score or settings before generating. If a passage contains several verses, make sure the lyrics correspond to the verse you intend to rehearse.
- Select the passage and verse. Use the passage selection and verse options for the rehearsal section. Avoid generating the entire work when singers only need a short entrance or difficult phrase; a shorter excerpt makes it easier to repeat and compare the part.
- Choose the target part. Generate soprano, alto, tenor, or bass individually when the goal is part learning. If your choir uses different part names or divisions, check the score and the vendor’s selection options rather than mapping them by guesswork.
- Set the other parts as a listening reference. For learning a line, keep the target part prominent or isolated if the available controls allow it. Then listen with the other parts present to learn how the line fits into the harmony. The product details establish part selection and multitrack playback, but do not specify volume automation or a dedicated “loud target part” preset.
- Generate, listen, and iterate. Check the first entry, sustained notes, rests, consonant timing, and cadence against the score. If the result does not follow a lyric or note correctly, correct the MusicXML or selection and generate again; do not treat an AI vocal as proof that the notation is right.

For a tricky entrance, create an excerpt that begins shortly before the entrance so singers hear the preceding beat or harmony. For a long phrase, divide practice into a phrase-sized section and then a longer section that includes the transition into the next phrase. Keep the same verse and score passage across versions so singers are not comparing different lyric or note material.
Do not add instrumental accompaniment unless the tool and score workflow you are using explicitly supports it. The listed SightSinger details establish vocal audio, multitrack playback, and mixed-audio export; they do not establish accompaniment generation, tempo adjustment, count-ins, looping, or a piano guide. Check the vendor’s current site for those specifics, or make those additions in a separate audio workflow whose features you have verified.

Use A Prompt Only For Choices The Score Does Not Set
These tools are score-driven, so a prompt cannot replace accurate notation. If a tool offers a text instruction field, keep the request narrow and tie it to the rehearsal goal. Avoid asking the system to “make it more choral,” change the harmony, or rewrite the melody when singers need to learn the written work. Check The Result Before Sharing It
- Compare the generated part with the score at entrances, accidentals, repeated sections, and cadence notes.
- Listen for lyric alignment and intelligibility, especially where several syllables move quickly or a word crosses notes.
- Play each part with the full texture to check that singers can hear when their line enters and how it relates to other voices.
- Ask a choir member or music director to review passages where the generated vocal sounds ambiguous. An AI rehearsal aid should not replace musical direction or the authoritative score.
- Confirm that the audio export covers the intended excerpt and verse before distributing it to singers.
Rights And Sharing
Use recordings or voice material only with the singers’ permission.
