Make digital music by building a short, editable loop, arranging it into sections, then exporting it for playback or further production. For a MIDI-first workflow, use Beat Shaper or Songen to shape drums, bass, chords, and leads; use Suno if you want to generate a complete vocal or instrumental song from a text or lyric prompt. The tools listed here do not establish support for a particular genre, so check each vendor’s site before relying on genre-specific controls or results.
Choose A Starting Workflow
- Build the parts yourself: Start in Beat Shaper for an in-browser beat-making workspace with piano-roll editing and MIDI, audio, stem, and DAW project export options. Its listed controls include genre, mood, energy, and syncopation.
- Work offline on Apple devices: Songen makes editable lead, chord, bass, and drum MIDI loops, with piano-roll note editing, section regeneration, and offline exports.
- Start from a whole-song idea: Suno generates songs with vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, and production, and supports editing, remixing, extensions, section replacement, and stem export.
Build A Digital Track Step By Step
- Pick one musical goal. Decide whether you need an editable instrumental loop, an arranged beat, or a complete song with vocals. For your first pass, keep the idea compact: for example, “a steady electronic instrumental with a drum groove, bass, chords, and a short lead motif.” This describes parts and intent without assuming a genre preset or capability that is not established.
- Generate a first set of parts. In Beat Shaper, set the available genre, mood, energy, and syncopation controls to match your idea, then generate drums, basslines, synths, loops, or an arrangement. In Songen, generate lead, chord, bass, and drum MIDI loops. If starting with Suno, describe the song’s vocal or instrumental direction and include lyrics only if you want them used.
- Listen for the role of each part. Check whether the drums establish a pulse, the bass supports it, and the chords and lead leave each other space. Treat generated material as a draft: keep parts that serve the idea and regenerate or edit the ones that do not. Beat Shaper and Songen both list piano-roll editing; Suno lists section replacement and editing.
- Make a simple arrangement. Use a clear sequence such as opening, main section, contrasting section, and return. In Songen, arrange sections and regenerate a section when needed. In Suno, use extensions or section replacement to develop the song. Beat Shaper supports arrangements, but the listed information does not specify named section controls.
- Export for the next stage. Choose an export that matches your destination. Beat Shaper lists MIDI, WAV, MP3, stems, and DAW project exports; Songen lists MIDI, lossless WAV audio, and separate stems; Suno lists stem export. Confirm the specific export options available on your plan and the destination app before building a workflow around them.
- Review the result in context. Play the full arrangement from beginning to end. Check for abrupt starts or endings, parts that mask one another, and sections that feel repetitive. Make one change at a time, then listen again so you can tell what improved the track.
Shape The Track With Prompts And Edits
For An Editable Instrumental
Start with a short prompt such as: “Instrumental digital track; steady drum pulse; rounded bass; spacious chords; one bright lead motif; restrained energy.” In Beat Shaper, use its listed mood, energy, genre, and syncopation controls alongside the prompt or generation workflow. In Songen, focus the idea on the lead, chord, bass, and drum loops you want, then edit notes in the piano roll. Neither listing establishes support for particular genres, tempos, keys, or prompt syntax; check the vendor’s site for those specifics.
For A Vocal Song Draft
In Suno, give the song a clear subject and describe whether you want vocals, lyrics, or an instrumental. For example: “A reflective song about leaving a familiar place; intimate vocal delivery; build from a sparse opening into a fuller final section.” Suno lists song generation with vocals and lyrics, plus extensions and section replacement. When A Generated Part Does Not Fit
Change one element at a time. In Beat Shaper, adjust the listed energy or syncopation controls, or edit notes in the piano roll. In Songen, edit notes or regenerate a section. In Suno, revise or replace a section, or extend the song. Keep a copy of the version you prefer before making broad changes.
