Use language such as: “nostalgic small-combo jazz, slow swing, brushed drums, upright bass, intimate piano voicings, muted trumpet melody, restrained dynamics, warm tape-like ambience, instrumental, clear AABA form.” These tools do not document a guaranteed nostalgic-jazz mode, so treat the genre wording as a prompt direction and judge each render by ear.

Step 4: Refine The Arrangement And Character

Step 5: Make The Jazz Feel Intentional
- Keep the bass pattern simple enough to support the melody; remove notes that make the groove sound busy.
- Leave short rests after horn or vocal lines. Nostalgic phrasing often comes from the silence between ideas.
- Use one recurring melodic motif and vary its ending in the second section.
- Balance the kick, brush or snare texture, upright bass and piano before adding effects.
- Compare the intro and outro at low volume. If the melody disappears, reduce competing layers rather than adding more instruments.
