Make an original R&B or soul song by building a groove first, writing a focused lyric, generating a vocal arrangement, then editing the sections and exporting only after you have checked the tool’s rights and download terms. For a phone-friendly instrumental start, use Soundverse AI Beat Maker; for full-song generation and section edits, use Suno or Eleven Music; for a browser beat you can shape and take into a DAW, use Beat Shaper.
Step 1: Choose The Starting Point
- For an instrumental you can develop on a phone: Open Soundverse AI Beat Maker on web, iOS, or Android. Its browser-based multitrack studio can generate complete instrumentals and export WAV mixes, stems, and MIDI. The Free Tier starts with 1,000 tokens upon signup; check Soundverse’s site for current plan details and terms.
- For an editable beat intended for DAW production: Open Beat Shaper in a browser. It generates editable drums, basslines, synths, loops, and arrangements, with piano-roll controls for genre, mood, energy, and syncopation. Its Starter plan includes 32 MIDI clips, while Starter downloads are limited to MP3 and non-commercial use. Check the vendor’s site for the current plan and export terms.
- For a whole vocal song from a prompt: Open Suno or Eleven Music. Both generate complete songs with vocals and instrumentation; Suno also supports editing, remixing, extensions, section replacement, and stems, while Eleven Music offers section editing, inpainting, genre transitions, and producer-focused exports. Check each vendor’s site for plan limits and usage terms.
Step 2: Write A Specific R&B Or Soul Brief
Describe the musical choices you want rather than relying on a genre label alone. Specify the groove, arrangement, vocal character, mood, and song structure. For example: “Original slow soul song with a laid-back swung drum groove, warm bass, sparse electric piano, expressive lead vocal, intimate verse, rising pre-chorus, and a memorable chorus. Keep the arrangement spacious and do not imitate a named singer or use an unlicensed voice reference.”

For a beat-only start in Beat Shaper or Soundverse AI Beat Maker, remove the vocal and lyric instructions and ask for a drum, bass, and chord bed with space for a singer. For Suno or Eleven Music, include a short lyric draft or ask for lyrics, then state the song sections explicitly. Treat the first render as a sketch: if the groove is wrong, change one instruction at a time, such as swing, drum density, or bass movement.
Step 3: Draft Lyrics That Leave Room For The Vocal
Write a clear emotional premise, then keep the verses concrete and the chorus easy to remember. Use short lines and leave pauses where the singer should breathe or stretch a phrase. Add section labels such as Verse, Pre-Chorus, Chorus, and Bridge so the generator has a structure to follow. If you want to use generated lyrics, review and rewrite them for natural phrasing before building the final take.

Suno and Eleven Music accept song prompts for vocal generation and lyrics. Soundverse AI Beat Maker and Beat Shaper are the better starting points when the priority is an instrumental foundation rather than a finished lyric-led vocal performance.
Step 4: Generate And Compare A Few Takes
- Render the same brief more than once in your chosen tool, keeping the lyric and core groove description fixed.
- Compare the takes for vocal phrasing, chorus lift, bass and drum pocket, and whether the arrangement leaves space around the lead.
- Choose the take with the strongest performance and groove, even if a smaller detail needs fixing. Make one targeted prompt change for the next pass instead of rewriting everything.
Suno supports remixing and extensions, while Eleven Music supports section editing and inpainting. Those controls are useful when the overall song works but one passage needs another direction. In Beat Shaper, use its piano-roll editing to adjust the generated beat parts; Soundverse AI Beat Maker supports multitrack work and MIDI editing.

Step 5: Refine The Sections And Arrangement
Listen from the first bar through the ending. Check that the intro earns its length, the verse stays restrained enough for the chorus to rise, and the ending does not cut off a vocal phrase. In Suno, use section replacement or extensions for a passage that needs a new take or more length. In Eleven Music, edit or inpaint the specific section and use a genre transition only if the song needs a deliberate shift. For an instrumental workflow, shape the beat in Soundverse AI Beat Maker’s multitrack studio or adjust parts in Beat Shaper before moving the work into your DAW.
Step 6: Export Stems Or A Mix For Further Production
When you want to mix or arrange beyond the generator, choose a tool that offers the output you need. Soundverse AI Beat Maker lists WAV mixes, separated stems, and MIDI exports. Beat Shaper lists MIDI, WAV, MP3, stem, and DAW project export options, although Ableton Live project export and real-time MIDI require its Producer plan. Suno supports stem export, but its Free Plan does not include stem separation. Eleven Music offers stems and MP3/WAV exports. Confirm the current plan requirements and export availability on the vendor’s site before committing to a workflow.

Step 7: Check Rights Before Sharing Or Releasing
Use only lyrics, recordings, samples, and voice references you have permission to use, and do not clone or imitate a real person’s voice without consent. A generated track’s download availability does not by itself establish permission for every release or commercial use. Suno’s Free Plan does not include commercial rights; Beat Shaper Starter downloads are non-commercial; Eleven Music’s commercial rights vary by plan and exclude film, TV, and studio games. Check the applicable platform terms for your exact plan and intended use before publishing or monetizing a track.
