The Hearts Cross-Stitch Frame is a 6-inch-square design stitched on 28-count linen and mounted over batting and cardboard before framing. The project combines Log Cabin and heart blocks with sashing, and calls for two strands of floss stitched over two fabric threads.

- An embroidery hoop and a size 26 tapestry needle
- Embroidery floss in white, light pink, dark pink, magenta, lavender, purple, and light green; the listed DMC numbers are 3865, 3609, 3805, 718, 25, 33, and 955. The project page does not explicitly pair each number with a named color.

How to stitch the design
- Fold the linen in half horizontally and then vertically to find the center. Press the folds lightly, then unfold the fabric.
- Tension the linen in the embroidery hoop. Thread the size 26 tapestry needle with two strands of floss.
- Follow the project pattern and color key, making each cross stitch over two fabric threads. This is the 2-over-2 method specified for the 28-count linen.
- When a strand is finished, weave its tail under previous stitches on the back and trim the excess.
- Remove the linen from the hoop. Place it face down on a soft towel and press with a warm iron.
Mount and frame the finished stitching
- Lay the stitched linen face down and center the 10-inch batting square over it.
- Center the 6-inch cardboard square on top, keeping the design centered in the frame area.
- Wrap opposite fabric and batting edges over the cardboard. Hand-stitch the opposing edges together with long stitches.
- Repeat with the remaining two edges, then place the mounted piece in the white frame.
