TrikBrik is a lightweight, interlocking faux-brick cladding system made in Europe and distributed to Australia by Havwoods. It is intended for interior walls, columns and counters in homes, shops, hospitality venues and other commercial spaces. The panels are designed to create a brick appearance without laying individual masonry units, but the exact range, stock, accessories and installation requirements must be confirmed for your region before you specify them.
The most important planning issue is that TrikBrik is not one universal panel size. The documented Urban Brick Brown (HW0104) and White Brick (HW0100) variants have different dimensions and coverage, so measure your wall against the exact product code rather than estimating from a generic “one-square-metre panel.”

Havwoods’ Australian product literature describes TrikBrik as a visually realistic, lightweight faux-brick cladding panel system. The panels are made in Europe and brought to Australia by Havwoods. Instead of building a veneer from separate bricks and mortar, the system uses large panels with interlocking dovetail joints. A painted polyurethane finish supplies the visible colour and surface treatment, while the panel itself is described in the technical data as a stone-composite material.
That construction makes TrikBrik a cladding product rather than structural masonry. It is positioned for interior feature treatments, including walls, columns and counters. The supplier literature names residential, retail, hospitality and commercial environments, but it does not establish exterior suitability, structural capacity, fire classification, acoustic performance or moisture resistance. Do not assume that a panel suitable for an indoor feature wall can be used outdoors, in a wet room or as a load-bearing surface.

The publisher listing for the 31 May 2018 Architecture & Design item uses the phrase “Create faux brick feature walls with European TrikBrik collection.” The listing does not provide a completed project description or performance test, so the practical guidance below separates documented product facts from decisions that require confirmation with Havwoods or a qualified installer.
Documented panel specifications
Two Havwoods technical sheets provide precise figures for named variants. Treat these as variant-specific values, not as specifications for every TrikBrik colour or future product.

The dimensions and coverage figures come from Havwoods technical data sheets. They are not a guarantee of the finished area after cutting, openings, corner details or waste. Joint layout can also affect how much of a panel remains usable when a wall ends at a doorway, window or outside corner.
Choose a variant by code, not by colour name alone
Havwoods’ 2018–19 talking points refer to four colours, but the inspected material does not identify all four. It also does not establish which colours are currently manufactured or stocked. Ask for the current regional range and samples, and record the product code on your specification.
Request a physical sample
A sample lets you inspect the brick relief, joint rhythm, paint variation and gloss in the actual light of the room. Compare it beside flooring, cabinetry, worktops and trim rather than judging it under a showroom light. If the wall is large, ask whether a larger sample or several interlocking pieces are available; a small swatch may not reveal how repeated panels align.

Confirm the current range
Havwoods directs interested customers to a consultant for information or samples. Use that route to confirm the current colour names, product codes, regional stock, lead time and any discontinued variants. Availability in Australia or another market should not be inferred from an older catalogue.
Measure the wall before ordering
Start with the wall’s gross area, then subtract permanent openings such as doors, windows and large niches. Divide the result by the coverage of the exact panel code. For HW0104, the documented nominal coverage is 1.02 m² per panel; for HW0100 it is 1 m² per panel.
- Measure wall width and height in several places. Record the smallest dimensions where the wall, floor or ceiling is out of square.
- Calculate gross area by multiplying the usable width by the usable height.
- Subtract openings that will not receive cladding. Keep a note of reveals and returns that may still need pieces.
- Divide net area by the variant’s stated coverage and round up to a whole panel.
- Add a cutting allowance only after discussing the layout with the installer. The correct allowance depends on corners, openings, pattern alignment and the number of short pieces that can be reused.
- Check the resulting panel count against the supplier quotation and ask how damaged or short panels are handled.
For example, a 3.2 m by 2.5 m wall has a gross area of 8 m² before deductions. Dividing by HW0100’s nominal 1 m² coverage gives eight panels before openings, layout losses and cutting allowance. The same wall divided by HW0104’s 1.02 m² figure produces a different result, and the physical dimensions also change the way joints fall at the edges. This is why a code-specific takeoff is safer than ordering by a rounded square-metre estimate.
Plan the visual layout
Decide what the feature wall includes
Define whether the cladding stops at the wall edges, wraps an outside corner, continues behind cabinetry or covers a column face. A drawing with elevations is useful because the panel’s long and short dimensions are not interchangeable. Mark sockets, switches, vents, shelves, television brackets and plumbing penetrations before the order is placed.
Protect sight lines
Feature walls are usually viewed from a few dominant positions. Place full or visually important pieces where they will be seen first, and discuss where horizontal or vertical cuts will land. The interlocking dovetail joints are intended to connect panels, while Havwoods’ Australian catalogue mentions mastic and touch-up paint to hide joint lines. The catalogue does not provide a complete finishing specification, so confirm the compatible products and colour-matching process with the supplier.

Coordinate adjoining materials
Brick relief introduces shadow and texture. Check how it meets painted plaster, timber, tile, metal, skirting boards and ceiling lines. A narrow sliver at an edge can look accidental; the installer may be able to shift the layout, balance cuts or introduce a deliberate trim, but that decision should be made on the elevation before work begins.
Installation: what is established and what must be confirmed
The HW0104 technical sheet says, “TrikBrik can be installed by any competent person.” The same sheet advises seeking guidance from a professional installer or Havwoods. That statement is not a complete DIY method. The available product material does not specify substrate preparation, adhesive or mastic type, mechanical fixing, joint treatment, cutting tools, expansion allowances, corner details, curing time, cleaning method or current warranty conditions.
Use a qualified installer for the site assessment
Ask the installer to inspect the wall before materials are opened. The assessment should establish whether the surface is sound, clean, dry, flat enough for the system and capable of carrying the panel load. It should also identify hidden services, moisture problems, movement joints, fragile paint layers and areas where a lining or repair is required. These are installation decisions, not values supplied by the TrikBrik sheets, so obtain them in writing for your project.
Confirm the fixing system
Do not substitute a generic construction adhesive because the panels appear light. Request the current TrikBrik-specific fixing recommendation, including product name, coverage rate, open time, curing conditions and whether additional mechanical support is required. Confirm that the recommendation is valid for your substrate and local climate. The US document library lists a general wall-cladding installation guide, but its listing does not say that the guide applies to TrikBrik; treat it as unconfirmed until Havwoods identifies it as applicable.

Before cutting begins, ask who is responsible for protecting the finished face, managing dust and sealing or touching up exposed edges. Establish how internal and external corners, sockets, returns and top and bottom terminations will be finished. Havwoods’ catalogue mentions mastic and touch-up paint for concealing joint lines, but it does not identify current accessory products or give a full method. Use only products approved for the selected variant.

Where the system may fit indoors
Supplier literature positions TrikBrik for several interior contexts:
- Residential walls: living rooms, dining areas, hallways or other dry interior feature locations, subject to substrate and moisture confirmation.
- Columns: a panel treatment can make a structural or decorative column read as masonry, but every face, corner and access panel needs a separate layout.
- Counters: the catalogue includes counters among possible applications. Confirm impact, heat, water, cleaning and edge-detail requirements before using panels near food preparation or heavy contact.
- Retail and hospitality: plan for cleaning, public contact, signage and maintenance access, and obtain any commercial compliance information required by the project.
- Commercial interiors: confirm fire, accessibility, maintenance and building-code obligations with the project’s architect, certifier or installer; the cited product sheets do not provide those performance classifications.
Common planning mistakes and how to avoid them
Ordering from an old image
A 2018–19 catalogue reference does not prove that a colour, code or finish is still available. Get a dated quotation or current product sheet and retain the sample approved by the client.
Assuming every panel covers one square metre
HW0104 is listed at 1.02 m², while HW0100 is listed at 1 m². The physical dimensions differ as well. Use the exact code in the material calculation.

Ignoring the weight at access points
Each cited variant weighs 6–7 kg per panel. Plan how panels will be carried, stored and supported during installation, especially in stairwells or rooms with finished flooring. Ask the installer whether temporary support is needed while the fixing system cures.
Starting without a joint plan
Interlocking joints can make a wall look continuous, but doors, windows and corners interrupt the pattern. Draw the elevations and approve the cut lines before ordering the final quantity.

Treating a general guide as product-specific
A generic cladding guide may use different substrates, adhesives or tolerances. Obtain written confirmation that any guide, accessory or fixing recommendation applies to the selected TrikBrik code.
Questions to put to Havwoods or your installer
- Is the selected colour and product code currently available in my region?
- What is the current panel size, coverage, weight and finish for that code?
- Can I receive a physical sample and a current technical data sheet?
- Which substrates are approved, and what preparation is required?
- Which adhesive, mastic, touch-up paint and other accessories are approved?
- How should panels be cut and finished at corners, openings, sockets and exposed edges?
- Is mechanical fixing required in addition to adhesive?
- What cleaning, repair and maintenance instructions apply?
- What warranty and performance documentation is current for my market?
- Does any published wall-cladding installation guide explicitly apply to TrikBrik?
A practical specification checklist
Before approving the feature wall, keep one project sheet containing:
- Room, wall elevation and intended application.
- Selected colour, product code and approved sample.
- Panel dimensions, weight and nominal coverage taken from the current technical sheet.
- Measured gross area, deductions, openings, corners and calculated panel quantity.
- Installer’s substrate assessment and fixing recommendation.
- Cutting, joint, corner and edge-treatment details.
- Confirmed accessories, delivery condition and storage instructions.
- Current availability, lead time, warranty and maintenance documents.
This record prevents a colour name from being separated from its code and makes it easier to replace or repair a panel later.
Is TrikBrik suitable for your project?
TrikBrik is a credible option when you want an interior brick visual, a lighter panel-based installation than individual masonry units, and a supplier-supported sample and specification process. Its strongest documented advantages are the interlocking panel format, stone-composite construction, stated 6–7 kg panel weight and the availability of code-specific coverage data for selected variants.
It is not a plug-and-play specification. Current colour availability, regional stock, substrate requirements, fixing products, performance classifications and warranty terms are not established by the cited material. Treat the product as a design and cladding system that needs a current supplier confirmation and a competent installation plan. Once the exact code, layout and fixing method are approved, the wall can be ordered with far less risk of mismatched panels, unusable cuts or an installation dispute.
