What can be established about PVC Windows Australia’s commercial double-glazed PVC windows? Its March 2020 brochure presents “Double Glazed Window Systems” for residential and commercial projects, but the available material does not identify a current commercial model, project-specific Uw or SHGCw schedule, acoustic certificate, or current compliance package. Treat the brochure as an indication of the product category and claimed features, then require a system-specific technical submission before including the windows in a commercial design, tender or energy assessment.

The right specification is a complete window: frame profile, reinforcement, seals, hardware, insulated-glass build-up, dimensions, opening type and installation. A glass centre-pane value or a figure from another supplier cannot be transferred to PVC Windows Australia without matching evidence.

The company brochure is titled Double Glazed Window Systems and lists “Residential & Commercial Projects.” That supports describing the company as presenting double-glazed PVC windows for both sectors. The brochure also makes several broad claims. It says the windows can achieve a 6 Star Energy Rating, are manufactured in Australia to AS 2047, can meet bushfire requirements up to BAL 29, use multi-lock security, European profiles and German hardware, are fully recyclable, and are maintenance-free. These are claims in a brochure dated March 2020. Ask the supplier to confirm which claim applies to the proposed frame, glass, hardware and installation, and request current documentation rather than treating the wording as a project guarantee.
What is not stated
- No current commercial model name or product code is identified.
- No project-specific whole-window U-value (Uw), solar heat-gain coefficient (SHGCw), visible-transmittance value or acoustic rating is supplied.
- No current wind, water, air-infiltration, bushfire or energy certificate is attached to a defined commercial configuration.
- No verified energy-bill saving, payback period or market-share figure is provided for PVC Windows Australia.
- No price, lead time, warranty term or installation responsibility is established.
Those omissions are important because commercial approval depends on the exact opening size, orientation, exposure, glass make-up, frame and installation details.
Why a complete system matters more than a glass label
“Double glazed” only says that two panes are separated by a sealed cavity. Performance changes with cavity width, gas fill, low-emissivity coating, pane thickness, spacer, warm-edge treatment, frame chambers, reinforcement and seals. A narrow frame with a high-performing glass unit can produce a different whole-window result from a larger, heavily reinforced frame using the same glass.

For energy modelling, request the whole-window Uw for the actual dimensions and opening type, not only a centre-glass Ug. For solar control, request SHGCw and visible transmittance (VT), then test those values against orientation, shading, daylight and cooling loads. A lower SHGC reduces solar gains but can also reduce useful winter heat and daylight; it is not automatically the best choice for every façade.
Acoustic performance is likewise a system result. Pane thickness and asymmetry, laminated glass, cavity width, seals, mullions, trickle vents and installation gaps can all change the rated result. Require the Rw (and any spectrum-adaptation terms used by the project’s acoustic consultant) for the specified frame and glass, with the test method identified.
Commercial context in Australia
The Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water reported in its Glazing Costs Final Report: Glazing for non-residential buildings under NCC 2019 that a search for WERS-rated products on 10 May 2021 found 75 rated uPVC commercial products from four uPVC brands. The 2023 report describes that count as a historical snapshot of rated products; it also notes that additional unrated products may exist. It is not a current count of every commercial PVC window available and does not identify PVC Windows Australia’s position in that market.

Plustec’s supplier material describes uPVC double-glazed windows and doors for domestic, industrial and commercial Australian markets. That demonstrates that commercial uPVC is an established product category, not that Plustec or any other supplier is connected with PVC Windows Australia. Use category evidence to frame a tender, but obtain the nominated manufacturer’s own certificates and schedules.
Published figures from other suppliers: useful benchmarks, not PVC Windows Australia specifications
Benchmarks can help a design team spot missing data, provided every figure remains attributed to the supplier or report that published it. APS Double Glazing’s commercial page, accessed 13 October 2026, describes a standard 28 mm argon-filled insulated-glass unit with two 4 mm panes and a Softcoat LowE coating. APS states standard thermal U-values of 1.6–1.9 W/m²K and values as low as 0.6 W/m²K with alternative glass combinations; it also states a standard weighted sound-reduction rating of Rw 32. Those are APS figures. They cannot be used in a PVC Windows Australia schedule unless the same build-up, frame, dimensions and test basis are documented for that system.

The Victorian report’s figures show why a single headline number is inadequate: changing the glass option alters both Uw and SHGCw. They are not a quotation, warranty or certification for PVC Windows Australia.

How to build a project-specific specification
- Define the openings. List window and door types, nominal width and height, fixed versus operable units, sliders, awnings, casements, bifolds, transoms, mullions and corner conditions. Record sill, head and jamb details, frame colour and any reinforcement required for the span.
- Set the performance targets. The building-services and façade teams should establish Uw, SHGCw, VT, air leakage, water penetration, structural wind pressure and acoustic targets from the project’s climate zone, orientation, internal loads, occupancy and façade exposure.
- Request a complete technical schedule. Ask PVC Windows Australia for profile series, frame depth, chamber and reinforcement details, glass thicknesses, cavity and gas, coating, spacer, seals, hardware, maximum tested sizes and opening limitations.
- Demand test and rating bases. Each value should identify whether it is a laboratory test, simulation or certified rating; the standard used; specimen dimensions; boundary conditions; and whether the result is centre-glass, frame or whole-window. For energy modelling, obtain Uw and SHGCw for representative project sizes.
- Check Australian compliance. Confirm the applicable National Construction Code provisions and relevant Australian Standards for the building and exposure. If the brochure claims manufacture to AS 2047, request the current certificate or test report showing the nominated system and size range. Where bushfire exposure applies, ask for documentation for the required BAL; the brochure’s BAL 29 claim should not be extended to other BAL levels or configurations.
- Coordinate acoustics. Give the supplier the external noise spectrum and internal criteria. Obtain Rw results for the complete window, including vents, trickle vents and operable portions, and have the acoustic consultant review junctions and installation.
- Verify solar and daylight consequences. Compare SHGCw and VT by orientation. Pair low-SHGC glass with shading analysis so that cooling reduction is not achieved at the expense of excessive winter heating or insufficient daylight.
- Review installation responsibility. State who measures openings, supplies flashings and sill pans, installs membranes, seals interfaces, adjusts hardware and completes water testing. A high-rated unit can underperform if perimeter seals or drainage are poorly installed.
- Lock the approved configuration. Put the exact profile, glass code, spacer, coating, hardware, colour, dimensions, tolerances and certificates into the tender and shop-drawing requirements. Do not allow substitutions without recalculating Uw, SHGCw, VT, acoustic and structural results.

Common specification failures and their remedies
Using a centre-glass U-value as the window value
A centre-glass number excludes the frame and edge effects. Require Uw for representative window sizes and use the same boundary conditions in the energy model.

Supplier figures are configuration-specific. A 28 mm argon unit or an Rw 32 claim from another company is not evidence for PVC Windows Australia. Keep the source and product name in every comparison table and obtain matching documentation.
Assuming “commercial” means every size is tested
Large spans, sliders, corner windows and heavily divided façades may have different structural and weather limits. Ask for maximum tested dimensions and allowable deflection, then design within those limits.

Treating brochure language as certification
“6 Star,” “maintenance-free,” “fully recyclable” and “BAL 29” are not substitutes for current certificates, declarations and installation details. Record the document number, issue date and covered configuration.
Ignoring the installation interface
Window-to-wall junctions, sill drainage, membranes and movement joints determine weather resistance. Include interface drawings, mock-up testing where risk warrants it, and a named party responsible for rectification.
What a defensible approval package should contain
- Approved window and door schedule with dimensions, opening types and locations.
- Profile, reinforcement, hardware and seal details for every distinct unit.
- Glass schedule identifying pane thickness, cavity, gas, coating, spacer, safety treatment and acoustic build-up.
- Whole-window Uw, SHGCw and VT values with test or calculation standards and specimen sizes.
- Structural, air, water, acoustic and bushfire evidence applicable to the project.
- Shop drawings showing sill drainage, flashings, membranes, sealants and movement allowances.
- Installation method, inspection points, water testing plan, commissioning records and warranty terms.
If PVC Windows Australia cannot provide those items for the proposed configuration, the project team can still consider the product, but should classify the offer as provisional and carry a technical-approval condition in the procurement and program.
