Belle’s brochure lists laminates, vinyls, timbers and MDF as material options for its custom doors. Home theatres and media cabinetry
Roller doors can conceal screens, components or cable-management areas when they are not in use. Confirm ventilation, cable routes and the position of any lock or motor before the cabinet is built. The door supplier, cabinetmaker and electrician should work from the same approved drawing.
Offices and medicine cabinets
The Belle brochure also cites modern offices and medicine cabinets. For a workplace, confirm whether the door needs a lock and who will operate it. For medicines or other restricted items, specify the required lock and compliance requirements with the cabinet supplier rather than assuming an optional lock in an older brochure meets current needs.
How Laminex finish categories differ

- Define the cabinet function. Record the room, opening location, contents, frequency of access and whether the door must conceal, lock or protect anything. A kitchen appliance bay has different coordination needs from a media cabinet or medicine cupboard.
- Measure the opening after the cabinet design is fixed. Provide the supplier with the finished opening width and height, cabinet depth, neighbouring obstructions and the intended direction of travel. Do not design to the old brochure’s maximum without checking the current product drawing.
- Check the size limit with Belle. The Belle brochure states a general maximum of 2 metres by 2 metres. The brochure is old and its publication date is not shown, so treat that figure as historical guidance only. Obtain current allowable dimensions, tolerances and any aspect-ratio limits in writing.
- Select the Laminex family and colour. If you want vinyl, identify FormWrap and the exact current colour or woodgrain code. Request a physical sample under the project’s lighting; a screen image cannot establish the final appearance.
- Confirm construction and edge details. Ask who supplies the substrate, how the vinyl is formed around edges, where seams occur when the door retracts and what clearances the mechanism requires. Dimensions, mechanism and installation decisions
The 2 metres by 2 metres figure in the Belle brochure is a general stated maximum, not a measured size for the Architecture & Design project. It should not be used to infer that every current Belle door can be made at that size, or that a square opening is the only permissible format. Ask for the present technical schedule and confirm whether the limit applies to the clear opening, the door curtain or the overall cabinet assembly.
Roller doors need a defined path as they open. The cabinet drawing should identify where the door stores, how much interior volume is consumed and whether shelves, hinges, lighting or ducting intrude into that path. Request the supplier’s installation and service clearances; do not estimate them from photographs.

If an electric motor is selected, plan the power point, switch or control location and access for future servicing before the cabinet is closed. If a lock is required, establish whether it secures the door in the closed position and whether the chosen handle or control can be operated without interfering with the retracting mechanism.

When FormWrap vinyl is the preferred brief
FormWrap is the Laminex category explicitly described as thermolaminated vinyl. Choose it when the design brief calls for that product family and its available colours or patterns. Confirm the exact profile, edge treatment and suitability for the Belle door assembly; the available documents do not establish those project-specific details.

DesignEdge is identified as LPM laminate, not thermolaminated vinyl. It may be considered when the desired appearance or specification calls for an LPM surface, but the fabricator must verify that its panel construction works with a retracting roller-door mechanism.

When a painted finish is required
ColourTech is described by Laminex as 2pac polyurethane paint. It belongs to a different finish system from FormWrap and DesignEdge. Specify the sheen, colour reference and repair expectations with the supplier, and confirm that the painted panel construction is approved for the selected door hardware.

- Ordering before checking availability: Confirm the selected colour and lead time against Laminex’s current availability information and the supplier’s delivery date.
- Leaving hardware until installation: Locks, motors, controls and service access affect the cabinet design. Include them in the approved drawing.
- Assuming a photograph proves the specification: The project-level details are not verified in the available sources. Obtain written confirmation or a sample from the parties supplying the door.
What to include in a quotation request
Send the supplier a concise schedule containing:
- room and cabinet purpose;
- finished opening width and height, cabinet depth and nearby obstructions;
- required operating direction and retracted-door location;
- Laminex family (for example, FormWrap thermolaminated vinyl), colour or pattern code and sheen;
- substrate, edge and profile requirements;
- manual, lockable or motorised operation;

Ask the supplier to mark any item that depends on a current factory confirmation. That prevents an old brochure specification from silently becoming a contractual promise.

Choose this route when the priority is a concealed interior storage opening with a coordinated custom finish and the cabinet layout can accommodate the door’s travel. Start with FormWrap only when a thermolaminated-vinyl appearance is required and the fabricator confirms compatibility with the roller-door construction. Consider DesignEdge or ColourTech when the design brief specifically calls for LPM laminate or 2pac polyurethane paint, but keep the finish family explicit in the quotation.
If the opening, profile or hardware falls outside the supplier’s current limits, revise the cabinet design or select another door format rather than assuming the old brochure’s dimensions still apply. A hinged or panel door may be the more straightforward made-to-measure format when the available roller-door mechanism cannot meet the required size or clearance.
