Krita 5.2.15 was released on 28 January 2026 as a bug-fix update, with fixes for several crash causes and input-related work aimed especially at Xiaomi Pad use. It is no longer the current release: Krita’s download page listed version 5.3.4 on 7 October 2026. If you need the newest version, check Krita’s official download page.
What changed in Krita 5.2.15?
The release announcement describes 5.2.15 as a bug-fix release. Its changes address crashes, file handling, touch and stylus input, and a set of smaller interface and drawing-behavior issues. These are fixes and workarounds listed by the project, not a guarantee that every user will notice an improvement.
Crash and file-handling fixes
- Fixes crashes when using the smudge brush and when undoing a liquify operation.
- Fixes a crash related to faulty embedded color profiles.
- Fixes loading TIFF files that use JPEG compression.
- Updates G’MIC to version 3.6.4.1 in the 5.2 branch.
Input and usability changes
- Improves touch-event handling, including multi-finger touch cancellation.
- Fixes touch scrolling that could open a context menu.
- Addresses rotation and combined zoom-and-rotation notices.
- Fixes a conflict between Transform and Move shortcuts and timeline arrow-key actions.
- Corrects SVG gradient behavior and overview-widget context menus.
- Addresses window flicker on Xiaomi devices.

Does Krita 5.2.15 improve Xiaomi tablet support?
It includes Xiaomi-specific changes: stylus-button handling, a steeper tablet pressure curve, and fixes for window flicker and touch behavior. The release announcement does not name a specific tablet or stylus model, nor does it claim that all Xiaomi devices—or all tablets—will benefit in the same way. It is most relevant to users affected by the listed input or display issues.

Krita’s general guidance is that a graphics tablet can be from any brand if it is compatible with your operating system. The 5.2.15 update does not require buying a new tablet; check the device and operating-system compatibility before choosing hardware.
Is 5.2.15 still the version to download?
No. Krita released 5.2.16 on 25 February 2026 to address issues affecting HEIF, HEIC, and AVIF saving in the preceding 5.2 line. Later, the project announced 5.3.4 on 15 September 2026, describing it as suitable for productive work while calling 6.0.4 more experimental. Version 5.3.4 was listed on the official download page as of 7 October 2026.

The 28 January 2026 announcement offered 64-bit Windows installer and portable packages, a 64-bit Linux AppImage, a macOS disk image, Android APKs for Intel and Arm, and source archives. These details describe that release, not necessarily later versions.

- The project said it no longer made 32-bit Windows builds.
- For 5.2.15, Ubuntu 22.04 was the stated minimum supported Ubuntu version. The announcement warned that the newer AppImage runtime could be incompatible with old AppImageLauncher versions.
- The stated minimum macOS version was 10.14.
- The Android builds were labeled beta and tablet-only, not intended for Android phones.
- The portable Windows package could be unpacked and run separately from an installed copy, while sharing settings and custom resources.
- For crash reports, the project recommended including the debug-symbol folder. Hashes were available in the KDE download directory’s Details section; Linux AppImage and source archives were signed.
