Finding an image of Labubu online does not mean you have permission to use it as clipart. POP MART identifies Labubu as a character created by Kasing Lung for THE MONSTERS, but its official pages reviewed here do not grant a clipart license. If you need Labubu artwork, confirm permission for the particular image and use; if you want the quirky monster-and-elf feel, make a genuinely original design instead.
What is Labubu?
POP MART describes Labubu as an elf character created by artist Kasing Lung, originating in the picture book The Story of Puca and belonging to THE MONSTERS story world. The name also has an official commercial context: a USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeal Board filing identifies Pop Mart as owner of a LABUBU registration and includes toy goods. That filing is not a complete rights-clearance opinion for any particular image or use.
POP MART sells Labubu plush collectibles, but buying a toy is not the same as buying rights to reproduce its artwork. A product listing establishes that a collectible is offered, not that its images may be downloaded, adapted, printed, or sold as clipart.

Does POP MART provide a Labubu clipart license?
The official sources reviewed do not provide terms granting permission to use Labubu artwork as clipart. POP MART’s UK-facing terms warn that unauthorized use of materials on or through its services may violate copyright or trademark laws, among other laws. They also restrict purchasing products for commercial resale, distribution, or other business purposes without express authorization. Those terms address materials and uses covered by that page; they do not settle every legal question about fan art, fair use, or third-party images, and they should not be treated as a complete statement of rights in every country.
Accordingly, an image found in a search result, on a marketplace, or on social media is not automatically authorized. Nor does owning a Labubu plush establish permission to reproduce the character. Check the specific image’s license and the rights holder’s authorization before using it.

How to choose an image or design for your project
| Route | Authorization and use | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Official Labubu imagery | The sources reviewed do not state clipart license terms. | Who grants the rights; the exact image; permitted formats; commercial use; adaptation; attribution; territory; and duration. |
| Original monster-or-elf artwork | Create a distinct design rather than using Labubu artwork or branding. | Whether the artwork is genuinely original and avoids copying Labubu’s recognizable visual expression, name, logos, or branding. Originality reduces reliance on copied character art but does not guarantee against every legal issue. |
What to do before using Labubu art
- Identify the source. Find out who created or controls the particular image; an upload by a third party does not itself establish authorization.
- Read the actual license. Confirm that it covers your intended format and purpose, including whether commercial use, editing, attribution, your territory, and the length of use are allowed.
- Ask the rights holder if terms are unclear. Get permission for the specific image and proposed use rather than assuming a general product page or social post grants it.
- Choose original art if permission is unavailable. Develop your own character, silhouette, facial features, clothing, and name instead of tracing or closely adapting Labubu.
This is practical guidance, not a legal opinion. Legal exceptions and rights depend on jurisdiction and circumstances; the sources cited here do not resolve those questions for a particular project.
