The “Lithophane RGB lamp – rechargeable” is a do-it-yourself lamp base project, not verified evidence of a commercially sold finished lamp. It pairs a 3D-printed base with a custom lithophane shade and uses a rechargeable battery, a physical button, and five lighting modes.
What the rechargeable lithophane lamp is
The project, published on Hackster on January 6, 2024, describes a base intended to light a 3D-printed lithophane shade; its creator says the base could also be used with another type of shade. A lithophane is an image rendered in varying thicknesses so that light shining through it reveals the picture. The project page is a build guide, not a retail listing or independent product test. To make the shade, use a slicer with image-to-lithophane capability or a web-based lithophane tool, then print it. The shade’s dimensions and opening need to match both the chosen image and the base. The base itself is described as four printed parts: the base, an underside lid, a top disk that retains the shade, and a post that supports the disk and LED.

Parts and assembly in the Hackster build
The creator lists these electronics for the rechargeable version:
- Arduino Pro Mini and a USB-to-TTL adapter for programming it.
- TP4056 charging board.
- 5 mm common-cathode RGB LED.
- Toggle switch and tactile pushbutton.
- 3.7 V, 1000 mAh rechargeable battery.
The electronics are secured inside the printed base. The project advises insulating the LED pins with tape or heat-shrink tubing to help prevent shorts. These are the original creator’s construction details; they do not establish that the design has been independently safety-tested.

Lighting modes and button operation
The described firmware offers five modes: solid white, red, blue, green, and gradual color change. The lamp starts in solid white, and the button cycles through the modes. Three red-and-green flashes signal entry into the changing-color mode. These behaviors are specific to the Hackster build.
Charging: check the current before building
The project describes charging through a USB-C lead, with the base indicator red while charging and blue when charging is complete. It gives an approximate charge time of two to three hours, depending on charger output, and says the lamp can be used while plugged in. Treat these as project-specific instructions, not verified performance specifications.

There is an important compatibility issue in the described parts combination. The creator says the TP4056 configuration supplies about 1000 mA of charging current and considers that too high for the 1000 mAh battery used in this build. The creator recommends reducing the charge current to 500 mA for that battery. That recommendation applies to the stated build; it is not a universal lithium-battery rule or a general safety assurance. Check the actual battery manufacturer’s charging specifications and ensure the charging circuit is configured accordingly before connecting a battery.

A separate design from Lars Projects uses an ESP32, WS2812B LEDs, and WLED for Wi-Fi control. Its guide covers making a lithophane, printing the shade and base, assembly, and software setup; it specifies white PLA for the lithophane and shade and describes USB-charger power. It is a different build, not an upgrade or feature set of the Hackster rechargeable lamp. See the Lars Projects guide.

Choose based on the control and power arrangement you want: the first design centers on a rechargeable battery and physical mode button, while the second is USB-powered and Wi-Fi controlled. Both involve a custom printed shade. Neither source establishes comparative brightness, battery runtime, durability, print quality, or price, so those are not reliable bases for choosing between them.
