This reviewer gives Grade 10 learners in the Philippines a practical way to study the Music and Arts topics assigned for the third quarter. “Quarter 3” does not guarantee the same lesson sequence in every school: use your teacher’s current module or learning sheet to decide which topics apply.
First, confirm your Quarter 3 topics
The DepEd Learning Resource Portal index lists Grade 10 Quarter 3 modules and learning sheets for Music and Arts, but the index does not reveal the full contents of those materials. Its Music filenames alone are not enough to establish a detailed scope. Start with the resources your teacher assigned, rather than assuming every Grade 10 competency belongs to this quarter. See the DepEd Learning Resource Portal MAPEH index.
One school-hosted page shows a local sequence: Weeks 1–2 combine Music and Arts under “Contemporary Philippine Music”; Week 5 Arts is “Media-Based Arts and Design in the Philippines”; and Week 6 Music is “Contemporary Philippine Music.” Treat this as an example from that school, not a nationwide schedule. The MAPEH 10 Class – Third Quarter page provides that sequence.

Another school resource index, from Mabalacat Technical Vocational School E-LRC, is also a local example, not a universal curriculum authority: MAPEH 10 resources.
Music: what to review when it appears in your module
DepEd’s Grade 10 Music competency record spans several topics. It includes contemporary music, twentieth-century music, Afro-Latin American and popular music, and musical plays. The record is broader than a single quarter outline, so confirm the relevant topics in your assigned materials. The Grade 10 Music competency record describes skills learners are expected to develop.

Listen, describe, and connect the music to context
Practice listening closely to the works in your module. Describe what you hear, then connect the music to its historical and cultural background where the lesson asks you to do so. For a comparison activity, organize your notes around three questions:
- Musical elements and style: What features can you identify, and how would you describe the style?
- Historical and cultural context: What background does the assigned lesson give for the music?
- Performance choices: How do the performers’ choices shape the result?
Use evidence from the listening example or lesson when you explain a judgment; avoid treating a personal preference as an evaluation of how well a performance uses musical elements or style.

Depending on your assigned competencies, review how to sing with suitable pitch, rhythm, style, and expression. You may also be asked to create sounds using varied sources, improvise a simple accompaniment, or evaluate music and performances. If your module includes a project to create a musical about a selected contemporary Philippine composer, use the module’s instructions to guide its scope and assessment.
Arts: review the assigned media-based topic
“Media-Based Arts and Design in the Philippines” appears as a Week 5 Arts topic on the cited school page. The DepEd index confirms that it lists Grade 10 Quarter 3 Arts resources, but the index by itself does not establish the subtopics or assessment criteria in a particular module. Check the actual learning sheet for the media forms, examples, concepts, and task requirements you are expected to cover.

- Gather the current materials: Open the Quarter 3 Music and Arts modules or learning sheets your teacher assigned. Record the lesson titles and activities that are actually included.
- Sort topics by subject: Keep Music and Arts notes separate, and mark any combined lessons so you can review both parts.
- For Music, listen and annotate: Note the musical elements and style, relevant historical or cultural context, and performance choices for each assigned work.
- Practise the listed skills: Use the module’s directions for singing, sound creation, accompaniment, evaluation, or a creative task where these are included.
- For Arts, follow the learning sheet: Identify the specific media-based topic, examples, and criteria stated in your assigned material rather than relying on a topic label alone.
- Check your notes against the module: Confirm that each review item comes from a lesson or competency your teacher has assigned for this quarter.
What you need—and what the sources do not establish
The cited resources direct learners to DepEd modules and learning sheets. They do not establish that buying a particular book, instrument, or art supply is necessary for this review. Begin with the materials and task requirements provided by your teacher.
