A “Men in Black ID card” usually means a film-inspired agent badge or one of the FBI-cover IDs used by Agents Kay and Jay—not a verified, standard-issue card design for the secret organization. The best-documented examples are production props from the 1997 film: a production-made Agent J badge and a pair of FBI IDs used in a scene with Beatrice. They are different objects with different screen histories.
What does “Men in Black ID card” mean?
In the 1997 film Men in Black, Kay and Jay are agents in a secret organization that monitors alien activity on Earth. Sony describes the film as a 1997 comedy, science-fiction and action movie starring Tommy Lee Jones as Kay and Will Smith as Jay. Amblin describes the pair as working for an unofficial government agency handling extraterrestrial matters.

The phrase “Men in Black ID card” can therefore refer loosely to an agent-style badge, a costume accessory, or an identification prop shown in the films. But the documented IDs discussed here are FBI-cover props: they helped Kay and Jay pose as FBI agents. They do not establish one canonical, standard-issue MIB card design.

These are historical auction records for production-made or production-used objects, not current sales offers. In particular, the Agent J badge’s production origin does not mean it was visible in the finished film. The pair of IDs and the single badge should not be treated as the same prop.

Are there other Men in Black ID props?
Yes. The Motion Picture Association’s memorabilia document lists a Men in Black II MTA Security ID badge used by Will Smith as Agent J and a USPS ID used by Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K. Those sequel props show that the franchise used other forms of cover identification; they do not establish the design of an original-film MIB card.
How to choose a replica or make a display piece
The cited records establish the existence of original film props, but they do not establish a currently available licensed replica, a specific consumer product, or current stock at any retailer. If you are shopping for a costume or display piece, assess the actual listing rather than assuming that “Men in Black ID” means an official reproduction.

- Check seller and transaction terms. For a replica, review who is selling it, return terms and any stated licensing information. For claimed original memorabilia, scrutinize provenance, condition, certificates if supplied, prior sale records and whether the exact item appeared on screen.
Painting or finishing a DIY badge
If you are making your own costume badge, treat it as a clearly fictional prop, not as real law-enforcement identification. Use a blank badge-shaped base and design the text and insignia yourself; do not reproduce real FBI credentials, official seals, or personal identifying details. Before applying paint, check that the base material is compatible with the paint and primer you plan to use. Follow the product label for surface preparation, coats and drying time, and test the finish on an inconspicuous area or scrap of the same material. A coating can change color, gloss and durability, so a small test is more reliable than assuming a reference image will match under every light.
