Yes. Microsoft currently lists Copilot 3D in Copilot Labs as a feature that turns images into 3D models. A 2025 hands-on report said users could download the result as a GLB file, but Microsoft’s current listing does not publish technical details such as accepted file types or output formats.
Copilot 3D is an experimental image-to-3D feature, not a documented text-only 3D generator. Treat a generated model as a starting point: inspect it and check that it works in your intended software or workflow rather than assuming it is accurate, editable, or ready to print.
What Copilot 3D does
Microsoft describes Copilot 3D in Copilot Labs with the phrase “Turn images into 3D models with one click.” The listing places it among Labs experiments and warns that feature availability and functionality may vary by device type, market, browser version, and age restrictions; features may also change or be discontinued.

Microsoft’s current listing does not give technical specifications for input files, downloads, model quality, or data retention. For practical input and output details, the available evidence is a dated report, not a current Microsoft specification.
What the reported workflow supports
In an August 8, 2025 hands-on report, Windows Central reported that users could upload a JPG or PNG image up to 10 MB and download a GLB file. Those are reported conditions from that date; Microsoft’s current Labs page does not confirm them as permanent limits or specifications.
- Open Copilot Labs. Find Copilot 3D in the Labs listing. The experiment’s availability and interface may change.
- Choose an image. The Windows Central report described JPG and PNG input. Check the live feature for current requirements rather than relying on that historical report.
- Generate and inspect the result. The report described variable results depending on the source image. Rotate the model and check whether the shape and details suit your purpose.
- Download and test the file. Windows Central reported GLB output. Confirm that your intended viewer or application can open it; you may need to convert or edit it for a particular workflow.
What GLB means—and what it does not
GLB is the binary version of glTF, a format for packaging 3D content in a single file. A GLB download tells you the reported file format, not whether the model is dimensionally accurate, cleanly editable, or suitable for a particular application.

Microsoft’s 2019 Office 3D guide discusses GLB as well as formats such as FBX, OBJ, PLY, STL, and 3MF for Office 3D content. That Office compatibility information does not mean Copilot 3D exports all of those formats. The reported Copilot 3D download was GLB.

The Windows Central reviewer reported that results varied with the source image and noted difficulty with some electronics when screen content was visible. That is one reviewer’s observation, not a performance benchmark or a guarantee about how the feature will handle every image.
A single image shows only one view of an object. As a practical matter, inspect the generated model from multiple angles and compare it with the source before relying on it. A downloadable 3D file is not proof that hidden geometry, proportions, or fine details are correct.

Can Copilot 3D create a model from text alone?
The current Microsoft Labs description says the feature turns images into 3D models. The 2025 Windows Central report also described an image-based workflow, not text-prompt-only generation. Do not assume Copilot 3D can create a 3D model from text alone unless Microsoft documents that capability separately.
Can you use a Copilot 3D model in Blender or for 3D printing?
Possibly, but the available evidence does not establish that every downloaded model will import cleanly into Blender, another editor, or a slicer. Check your target software’s import requirements and inspect the file. For printing, you may need to repair, scale, or convert the mesh before a slicer can use it; do not assume a download is ready to print.
