Alexandros Othonos of Greece was named Minimalist Photographer of the Year 2025 for Threads of Memory’s, a series that adds thread to vintage family photographs. The seventh edition recognized winners in 12 categories and offered an overall grand prize of €2,000, according to the awards organizer.

Who won the overall 2025 award?

Othonos won both the overall Photographer of the Year title and first place in the Conceptual category. The series intervenes in old family photographs with thread, using the altered images to evoke memory, time, nostalgia, absence and intimacy. PetaPixel also describes the work as vintage family photos altered with thread; the organizer’s release is the source for the official placement and prize details.

The organizer announced a €2,000 grand prize. It did not state in the reviewed results material when the winners were announced.
