The title mixes two different commemorations: Indonesia’s 2024 Independence Day was the 79th anniversary, while the 80th anniversary was celebrated in 2025. For the 2024 logo, use the Ministry of State Secretariat’s official logo and visual identity guide. For the 80th-anniversary identity, use the 2025 logo and theme instead.

The Ministry of State Secretariat launched the 2024 logo and theme on 24 June 2024. The 80th-anniversary logo was launched by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on 23 July 2025. These are separate identities, so a search for “80th Independence Day 2024” should be resolved by choosing the year or anniversary you mean.

At the 2024 launch, the organizers described the logo as a visual treatment of the number 79 built around seven concepts: Indonesia as an archipelagic state, the national emblem, economic growth, sustainability, green economy, unity and hope, and equality. Their explanation connects the forms to national development and identity:
- The “7” resembles the Garuda’s beak and an arrow pointing upward and to the right, associated with hopes for increased investment and exports.
- Connected curves signify sustainable development. The branch-and-leaf form in the “9” represents the green economy and attention to nature, roots, and cultural identity.
- The joined bases of the numerals represent hands coming together in unity. Two waves moving in the same direction stand for decentralization and more even development.
- The elongated, flowing composition is compared with the Kapuas River, evoking connected communities and dynamism.
These are the government’s explanations of the 2024 design, not meanings to transfer to the later 80th-anniversary logo. The 2024 theme, “Nusantara Baru Indonesia Maju,” was described by Presidential Secretariat head Heru Budi Hartono as expressing transitions that included the capital relocation and the coming change in national leadership. The selected design was credited to Inggrid Wenas, following collaboration involving the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and the Indonesian Graphic Designers Association (ADGI).
How the 2025 80th-anniversary logo differs
The 2025 identity used the theme “Bersatu Berdaulat, Rakyat Sejahtera, Indonesia Maju” (“United, Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia”) and was credited to designer Bram Patria Yoshugi. The Cabinet Secretariat described the number 80 as representing unity and sovereignty, with flowing lines representing people’s prosperity and a progressive Indonesia. Its launch report also records 245 submissions to the logo competition before a top five was selected. Those details belong to the 2025 identity, not the 2024 logo.
