Peru has 16 national holidays in 2026. The statutory dates below do not automatically move when they fall on a weekend. Monday, July 27 is a separate compensatory non-working day for public-sector workers—not a national holiday—and private-sector application may depend on agreement with the employer.

What are Peru’s national holidays in 2026?

The national calendar follows the statutory holiday list summarized by Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR). The Spanish names are included for identifying the holidays locally.

MINCETUR describes 16 national non-working holidays under Article 6 of Legislative Decree 713 and its amendments. The dates remain on the calendar date; a Sunday holiday does not automatically become a Monday holiday. Check the Peruvian State holiday calendar for the national and regional listings.

Is July 27 a holiday in Peru?

No. Monday, July 27, 2026 was declared a compensatory non-working day nationwide for public-sector workers, adjoining the national holidays on July 28 and 29. The decree provides for recovery of the unworked hours and treats July 27 as a business day for tax purposes. It is not one of the 16 statutory national holidays. See the government decree and its terms.

Are compensatory non-working days mandatory for private companies?

Not automatically. A government-declared compensatory non-working day is distinct from a national holiday. The official calendar says private-sector application may depend on prior agreement between the employer and employees. Check the applicable agreement and the decree rather than assuming a public-sector day off also applies at a private workplace. National holidays, by contrast, belong to the statutory holiday calendar.

How to plan around holidays in Peru

  • Check the location. The State calendar separates national and regional observances; consult the relevant region or locality for additional dates.
  • Confirm operating hours directly. A holiday listing does not establish whether a particular attraction, office, transport operator, or business will open.
  • Distinguish the kind of day off. For work schedules or long-weekend planning, verify whether a date is a national holiday or a compensatory non-working day, who it applies to, and whether hours must be recovered.

MINCETUR reported that visitor flow during 2024 increased 18% compared with 2023 in its discussion of long holidays and domestic tourism. That is a comparison of those two years, not a forecast for travel in 2026. The government decree presents long weekends as a way to encourage domestic tourism; that stated rationale does not establish how busy a particular destination will be.
