Yes. Photoshop now offers Google’s Nano Banana image models inside Generative Fill—not as a separate plug-in, but as model choices in Photoshop’s editing workflow. The integration began in Photoshop beta in September 2025 and later reached the regular desktop app. Adobe’s Photoshop documentation, updated June 18, 2026, lists the original Nano Banana alongside Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2; which options you see can depend on your version, account, plan, and location.
What “Nano Banana in Photoshop” means
The original Nano Banana is Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model. Adobe announced it for Photoshop’s Generative Fill workflow on September 25, 2025, alongside Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.1 Kontext [pro]. It is a Google partner model accessed through Adobe’s interface: Photoshop handles the document, selection, and editing workflow, while the selected image model generates the requested change. Adobe’s announcement described the first availability as Photoshop beta.
This is not the Gemini app embedded in Photoshop, nor is Nano Banana an Adobe Firefly model. Photoshop applies the model through tools such as selections and Generative Fill, leaving you to refine the result in the document with Photoshop’s layers, masks, adjustments, and other editing controls.

The initial integration was the original Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model. Adobe later announced Gemini 3 with Nano Banana Pro for Firefly and Photoshop. Its Photoshop model-selector documentation, updated June 18, 2026, now lists Gemini 2.5 with Nano Banana, Gemini 3 with Nano Banana Pro, and Gemini 3.1 with Nano Banana 2. The names and choices shown in a particular installation may differ.

The rollout also moved beyond beta: an Adobe Community announcement dated October 28, 2025 identified the models in Photoshop desktop update 27.0. Adobe’s November 20, 2025 announcement introduced Nano Banana Pro. So the September beta announcement is the start of the integration, not a description of the entire current lineup.
How to use Nano Banana in Photoshop
Change part of an existing image
- Open the image in Photoshop and select the area you want to change with the Selection Brush or another selection tool.
- Choose Generative Fill.
- In the Contextual Task Bar, open the model selector and choose an available Google model, such as Gemini 2.5 with Nano Banana, Gemini 3 with Nano Banana Pro, or Gemini 3.1 with Nano Banana 2.
- Enter a prompt describing the change, then choose Generate.
- Review the generated alternatives and refine the result in the document as needed.
Generate an image in a new document
- Create or open a document and choose Generate Image.
- Open the model selector in the Contextual Task Bar and choose an available model.
- Enter a prompt and select Generate.
These paths follow Adobe’s current model-selection instructions. Labels and availability can vary by Photoshop version, account, operating system, plan, region, and rollout status. If a model is missing, update Photoshop, sign in, open a document and make a selection before checking the Generative Fill model selector; restarting after an update may also help. Adobe does not guarantee identical model availability for every account.
A prompt example for a controlled edit
Add soft pink flowering branches behind the subject, matching the existing afternoon light and depth of field. Keep the subject, face, clothing, and camera framing unchanged.

Inspect the result, especially faces, hands, logos, product shapes, and text.
What the models are suited to—and what that does not guarantee
Adobe’s descriptions present Nano Banana as useful for imaginative scene additions, stylized or graphic details, object changes, style transfer, and text edits. Adobe’s examples include changes to a portrait’s background, clothes, hairstyle, pose, and surrounding elements while attempting to retain the person’s key appearance. These are vendor-described capabilities, not a promise of consistent identity preservation or a measured comparison against other models.

For Nano Banana Pro, Adobe has described more precise localized edits, lighting and camera-angle changes, aspect-ratio changes, higher-resolution content, text rendered in images, and multilingual or localized visuals. Adobe also describes combining multiple reference images in Firefly. The tools and capabilities available depend on the model and interface you select; a feature described for Firefly or a particular model should not be assumed to appear in every Photoshop generation mode.
Adobe’s broad positioning is a starting point for choosing a model, not an independent benchmark. Try the available models on the same selection and prompt when the result matters, then judge the actual output.
Choosing between Nano Banana, Firefly, and FLUX

Adobe’s stated distinctions come from its September 2025 announcement. For work where context or perspective matters, FLUX may be worth trying; for expressive additions, try Nano Banana; for a commercially oriented Adobe workflow, consider Firefly. None removes the need to inspect and retouch the result.
Credits, availability, and commercial use
Do not assume that a Photoshop subscription includes unlimited partner-model generations. Adobe says model availability can vary by plan and location, and generation may use generative credits. Historical Adobe Community guidance for the 2025 beta described a promotion with 500 free uses per day for Creative Cloud Pro users and 100 free uses per model for Creative Cloud Standard, Single App, and Photography-plan users. That same launch-period guidance said third-party generations were expected to use 10 generative credits per generation after the promotion. Those were beta and transition-era terms, not verified current 2026 pricing. Check the credit prompt shown in Photoshop and your current Adobe plan terms before generating.
Adobe positions Firefly as commercially safer; that description should not be extended automatically to Google or other partner models. For client, brand, advertising, or stock production, check the current terms that apply to the model and your account, along with any client or legal requirements. This comparison is not a legal conclusion about the rights in a particular generated image.

Practical limitations and fixes
Hard seams or mismatched edges
Adobe Community guidance warns that a partner model may not receive enough surrounding context, which can produce seams or composition mismatches. A tight selection can also create visible edges or shift generated pixels. If an edit looks cut out, undo or remove it, make a larger, looser selection that includes some of the surrounding scene, and describe how the addition should fit the light and environment. Then refine with a mask, adjustment, or manual retouching.
The model changes too much
- Select only the area that needs changing, while leaving enough surrounding context to blend it.
- State which visible features must remain unchanged, but treat that instruction as guidance rather than a guarantee.
- Break a complicated transformation into smaller edits.
- Work non-destructively where possible; use a layer mask to restore original details the model altered.
The result is too small for the job
Adobe Community guidance for the initial third-party-model workflow documented results limited to approximately 1K resolution, while Adobe’s launch announcement described Firefly iteration up to 2K. That is a historical limitation for the initial partner-model workflow, not a confirmed limit for every current Nano Banana model or generation mode. Check the output options in your own Photoshop build, and do not rely on an older partner-model output for large-format print without testing. If needed, use Photoshop’s enlargement or enhancement tools afterward, or try a workflow that provides the resolution your deliverable requires.
Text or small details are wrong
Even when a model can generate text, inspect spelling, letterforms, logos, and fine product details at full size. If exact typography or geometry matters, make the element separately with Photoshop’s text or drawing tools rather than treating generated text as final artwork.
The model is unavailable or credits run out
First check that Photoshop is updated, your account is signed in, and the model appears in the selector for the workflow you are using. Availability can differ by account, plan, region, and version. If generations are blocked by credits, check your current balance and the in-app prompt; do not rely on launch-period free-use figures as current entitlements.
When Photoshop is the right place to use Nano Banana
Photoshop makes sense when you want to apply a Google image model to a specific part of an existing composition and then keep editing around the result with selections, layers, masks, and retouching tools. For quick standalone ideation without that layer-based editing, Google’s own Gemini experience is a separate option, but its current pricing and limits are not established here. For professional delivery, treat Nano Banana as one creative tool in a review-and-edit workflow, not an automatic replacement for compositing judgment or final quality control.
