A pink flower could belong to many different plants: color alone is not enough to identify it. Compare the flower’s shape, foliage, overall plant form, flowering season and location. Roses, pelargoniums and maiden pink are three distinct examples, each with different identifying features and growing needs.

What is a pink flower called?
There is no single botanical name for a pink flower. Pink describes a flower’s color, which occurs across different plant groups. A rose, a pelargonium and maiden pink may all have pink blooms, but they are not interchangeable plants.

Roses (Rosa) include varieties with pastel-pink flowers, among many other colors. Their forms, flower shapes, fragrances and flowering patterns vary, so a pink bloom alone will not identify a rose variety. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) lists Rosa ‘Pink Flower Carpet’ (‘Noatraum’) as a named cultivar. Its listed mature size is 0.5–1 metre tall and 1–1.5 metres wide. RHS rose growing guide

Pelargoniums
Pelargoniums can have pink flowers. Their common names are sometimes confused with “geranium,” but Pelargonium and Geranium are different genera. Check the plant’s identifying features rather than relying on a label or bloom color alone. RHS pelargonium guide
Maiden pink
Maiden pink is another distinct pink-flowering plant. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh describes its identifying features and notes that its flowers attract butterflies; that observation applies to maiden pink, not to every pink flower. Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh: Maiden pink

How to identify a pink flower
Use several clues together instead of trying to name a plant by color. A clear photograph of the whole plant, its leaves and a close-up of the bloom can help with comparison.
- Flower shape: Note whether the bloom is single or layered and how its petals are arranged.
- Foliage: Look at leaf shape, arrangement and texture.
- Plant form: Record whether the plant is a shrub, a compact plant or another growth form.
- Season: Note when it is flowering, since flowering patterns differ among plants and varieties.
- Location: Include where it is growing and whether it is in a garden bed, a pot or a wild setting.
These observations can narrow the possibilities, but the examples here do not provide a complete identification key. If the plant remains uncertain, consult a regional plant-identification resource or a knowledgeable local gardener.

What pink flowers are easy to grow?
“Easy” depends on whether a plant suits the light, soil, drainage and space available in your garden. The cited guidance supports specific advice for roses, but it does not establish a standardized difficulty ranking across roses, pelargoniums and maiden pink.
Growing roses
For roses, the RHS recommends a sunny position and moisture-retentive, fertile, well-drained soil. It also says roses respond to mulching and feeding. These recommendations are for roses; do not assume they apply to pelargoniums or maiden pink. RHS rose growing guide

Choosing among the examples
Before choosing a plant, match its species-specific requirements to your site. Compare sun exposure, soil and drainage, mature size, flowering season, fragrance and intended setting—such as a border, container or cut-flower garden. The available descriptions do not provide all of these details for every example, so they are not enough to declare one universally easiest.
