Turn an empty wine bottle into spring decor in one of three ways: paint it for an opaque vase, arrange tiny blooms inside clear glass, or build a larger fresh-flower centerpiece around the bottle neck. Choose based on the look you want and the flowers you have: narrow openings suit small buds, while a fuller arrangement needs floral foam and more setup.
Choose the bottle craft that fits your flowers and display
| Approach | Look and flower type | Setup | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Painted bottle vase | Opaque painted finish; can display flowers in or beside the bottle | Clean the bottle, optionally spray-paint a base, then add painted details | A simple vase or centerpiece, including a dried-flower display |
| Small blooms inside clear glass | Transparent bottle with tiny buds, greenery, or seed pods inside | Fit stems through the opening and position them with a stick or dowel | Small bottles clustered as a light, beginner-friendly display |
| Fuller arrangement around a bottle | A larger fresh-flower arrangement built around the bottle neck | Hydrate flowers, soak floral foam, and arrange stems around the bottle | A more substantial event centerpiece |
The only cited project time is Michaels’ estimate of about 30 minutes for its beginner clear-bottle project; that is the estimate for that project, not a general timing guide. (Michaels)

Gather the supplies
- Clean, empty wine bottles
- White spray paint for an optional base coat
- Acrylic craft paint or chalk paint in colors of your choice
- A paint brush
Crafts by Amanda’s tutorial uses a white spray-painted base and then adds chosen colors with acrylic craft paint or chalk paint. Work outdoors when spraying, apply thin coats, and allow them to dry before adding painted details. (Crafts by Amanda)
Add spring motifs or dried flowers
For a simple seasonal design, paint five-petaled flowers and leaves with a round brush, as shown in Baker Ross’s bottle-painting project. (Baker Ross) Another option is to remove the label, wash and dry the bottle, then apply thin coats of spray paint and display dried flowers in it. Bogle Family Vineyards advises spraying outdoors or in a well-ventilated area and following the paint label. (Bogle Family Vineyards)

Treat a painted bottle as decorative rather than as a food-contact vessel. The cited tutorials do not establish that paint is waterproof, durable, or suitable for washing or outdoor use.
Arrange small blooms inside a clear bottle
Choose stems that fit through the opening
The bottle neck sets the limit: select buds small enough to pass through it. Michaels’ beginner project suggests adding greenery and seed pods first, followed by the flowers, then using a stick or dowel to position the stems. Add corks if you want them, and cluster several finished bottles together for display. (Michaels)

- BORDEAUX WINE BOTTLES - Classically shaped, these wine bottles feature a rounded top and flat bottom. At a 750ml size they are ideal for wine or home brewed beverages
- FOR HOME BREWING - Store your alcoholic drinks after brewing at home. The traditional glass bottles with a cork finish make for long term, sealed and secure wine storage
- SEAL WITH A CORK - Like the finest wines, these bottles have a cork seal finish. Compatible with size 8 corks for hand corkers, or size 9 corks with a floor corker. These bottles do not use screw caps
- CLEAR/FLINT COLOR - Clear flint bottles showcase the natural color and clarity of wines, spirits, or other beverages, but are also suitable for other drinks storage or home decoration.
- CASE OF 6 - Containing 6 x 750ml bottles, suitable for any wine, liquor or DIY drinks brewing project
Keep the arrangement simple
Use a clean bottle and a few small stems rather than trying to force larger flowers through a narrow opening. If your chosen blooms do not fit, switch to a wider-mouthed bottle or use the bottle as part of an arrangement on the outside instead.
Build a fuller fresh-flower arrangement around a bottle
For a larger centerpiece, the bottle becomes part of the structure rather than a vase filled through its neck. Blooms By The Box’s example uses roses, spray roses, tulips, and baby’s breath arranged around a bottle neck with soaked floral foam. It recommends hydrating flowers overnight in clean water and trimming stems with floral scissors before arranging. (Blooms By The Box)

Pick the approach that matches the bottle and flowers you already have: paint glass for a colorful surface, keep it clear to show small stems inside, or use the bottle as an anchor for a foam-supported arrangement. For painted bottles, follow the spray-paint label and ventilate the work area; for clear-bottle displays, let the bottle opening guide your flower choice.
