Project Repat turns selected T-shirt panels into a fleece-backed keepsake blanket: choose a size and layout, mail in the shirt sides you want included, and the company sews them together with fleece backing. Before ordering, check its current size guide and preparation instructions—and do not cut any shirts until you have read them.
What Project Repat makes—and how it is constructed
Project Repat says it has made custom T-shirt quilts since 2012 and that its quilts are cut and sewn in the United States. The finished piece uses squares cut from selected shirts, sewn together for the front, with fleece attached as the backing. The company says it does not use batting or interfacing. It describes its method as distinct from traditional quilting: “We do not quilt your t-shirts, which is a much more labor-intensive process,” its Construction help article says.
That distinction matters when choosing a keepsake. This is a shirt-panel blanket with fleece backing, not necessarily a padded, traditionally quilted bed quilt. Project Repat says its construction takes less time than a more labor-intensive quilted process; that is the company’s description, not an independent durability assessment.
How many shirts do I need?
Count shirt sides, not just garments: one side means either the front or back of a shirt. You can send one side or both sides from a garment, depending on which designs you want represented. The company’s preparation chart gives these example sizes and counts:

| Size | Approximate dimensions | Shirt sides |
|---|---|---|
| Mini Throw | 3 × 3 feet | 9 |
| Bed Runner | 6 × 2 feet | 12 |
| Lap | 4 × 4 feet | 16 |
| Twin | 4 × 6 feet | 24 |
| Twin XL | 4 × 7 feet | 28 |
| Full | 5 × 6 feet | 30 |
| Large Throw | 6 × 6 feet | 36 |
| Queen | 6 × 7 feet | 42 |
| King | 8 × 8 feet | 64 |
These are examples from the company’s preparation guide; confirm the current size chart when ordering. If you plan to use one side from each shirt, the side count is also the garment count. If you use both sides of some shirts, fewer garments may provide the requested number of panels.
How much does it cost, and what about shipping?
At the time reflected in Project Repat’s FAQ, listed quilt prices ranged from $45 for a Mini Throw to $250 for a King. The FAQ reported an average shipping-label cost of about $30, varying by location and quilt size; the label covers sending the shirts to the maker and the return trip. These are company-reported figures, not a guaranteed quote. Check the current FAQ and checkout for today’s price, shipping cost, and any applicable fees.

Follow the maker’s current instructions before cutting or packing anything. Project Repat’s guide lists scissors, a tape measure or ruler, a sturdy box, and packing tape among the supplies. It estimates about 10 minutes of preparation per 10 shirts; actual time depends on the number and type of items.

- Choose a size and count the sides. Match the number of front and back panels you want to the size guide.
- Check that designs fit. Measure the artwork against the selected panel. The FAQ says regular panels need at least 13 × 13 inches of material.
- Separate fronts and backs as directed. Use scissors only after reading the preparation directions, and preserve the designs you want included.
- Order and follow the packing instructions. The company says the order process provides a shipping label and packing slip. Pack the selected shirt sides in a sturdy box and send them using the provided directions.
Some smaller, unusually shaped, embellished, or otherwise nonstandard items may need extra work and fees. The FAQ says sweaters, leotards, heavily ruffled shirts, and jeans do not work. Ask Project Repat about unusual garments before ordering; eligibility and any additional charges depend on the actual item.
How long does it take to get the quilt back?
Project Repat’s FAQ reported a current turnaround of 5–6 weeks. Treat that as the company’s estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date: timing can change, so check the FAQ or order details before sending shirts.

How should you decide if the service fits?
- Start with the panels you want to preserve. The desired shirt sides determine the size you need; the number of garments alone can be misleading.
- Match construction to expectations. Choose it for a fleece-backed display of meaningful shirt designs, not on the assumption that it is a padded, traditionally quilted bedcover.
- Check the complete cost and timing. Verify the current quilt price, shipping label, possible item fees, and turnaround before committing.
- Allow time for preparation. The process is mail-in, but you still need to select, measure, separate, and pack the shirt sides according to the instructions.
How do you care for the finished quilt?
Project Repat’s FAQ recommends machine washing in cold water and tumble drying on low, and says dry cleaning is not needed. Those are the company’s care instructions; no independent laundering test is established here.
