Maker Faire France planned 130 Mini Maker Faires in Leroy Merlin stores across France for Saturday, November 30, 2024. Each location was to feature regional makers within a shared event setup, turning a nationwide gathering into a series of local opportunities to exchange practical know-how. The events are historical, not an announcement of a current schedule.
What was planned for November 30, 2024?
In a November 26, 2024 article, Jennifer Blakeslee reported that Maker Faire France planned simultaneous Mini Maker Faires in 130 Leroy Merlin stores around France. The plan paired a common format with local participation: stores were to use the same setup and some shared activations, while featuring makers from their regions. Make:’s event report describes the plan; it does not establish how many events ultimately took place or how many people attended.
How did the store events fit into Maker Faire France?
The nationwide store events followed Maker Faire Lille, held October 18–20, 2024. The Lille gathering and the planned store events were different in scale and format: the article dates Lille as a three-day event, while the Mini Maker Faires were planned as simultaneous, similarly set-up events hosted in stores on one Saturday. It does not provide a detailed comparison of their programs or attendance.
Why bring regional makers into a shared format?
The report presents the initiative as a way to encourage collaboration, share know-how, and help build local maker communities. A common setup and some shared activations could give the events a recognizable framework, while regional makers made each location a point of contact with its own creative community. The stated aim was not simply to stage activities in many stores, but to encourage people to become makers.

What was Leroy Merlin’s role?
Blakeslee describes Maker Faires across France as co-constructed with Leroy Merlin, which she says had been involved in France’s Maker Movement since 2016. The article does not spell out a contract, funding arrangement, or the terms of any ongoing partnership, so “co-constructed” should not be read as a claim about those specifics.

The report is a record of a 2024 plan, not current visitor information. It does not give a present-day event calendar, identify specific workshops or materials, or confirm the outcome of the November 30 gatherings. Its enduring point is the organizing idea: a shared event framework can connect participants across many locations while giving local makers room to demonstrate and pass on what they know.
