Sherwin-Williams’ 2025 Colormix Forecast, titled Capsules, groups 48 hues into four palettes: Chrysalis, Kindred, Paradox and Wellspring. They offer distinct moods and color directions—not proof that those shades became ubiquitous. Here’s what each palette is about and how to decide whether one suits your room.

What colors were trending in Sherwin-Williams’ 2025 forecast?
The forecast presents four themed collections rather than a single list of “must-have” paint colors. Sherwin-Williams describes them through ideas including quiet luxury, joyful risk-taking, modern mindfulness and building a better world. The company’s Director of Color Marketing, Sue Wadden, said the forecast was intended to tell “the deeper stories behind the colors inside of a home” and offer something to suit different spaces and styles.
Those themes are design directions, not evidence that a color was universally popular. The official materials reviewed do not report a named statistical study, market-share result or sales figure showing how widely these hues were used. The forecast’s lookbook describes the Trendsight Team’s work as drawing on “rigorous research, expert global trend analysis, and deep industry understanding,” but that description is not a quantitative measure of popularity.

How the four palettes differ
Sherwin-Williams’ forecast page and lookbook provide room imagery and named examples. These are representative shades, not complete inventories of the 48 hues.

Which Sherwin-Williams 2025 palette should you use?
Start with the feeling and color character you want in the room, then narrow the choice by looking at the finishes and colors that will remain. The palette names do not identify a universally best option, and the official sources do not establish a controlled comparison between them.
- Choose Chrysalis as a starting point if you want understated, nature-led neutrals and a sanctuary-like feel.
- Explore Kindred if you are drawn to its combination of the deep blue-green Dark Night and the lighter Tidewater.
- Try Paradox if you want to consider a more unexpected pairing, such as Slow Green with Quilt Gold.
- Look at Wellspring if earthy depth and lighter, natural-feeling shades appeal to you, from French Roast and Oyster White to Bosc Pear.
These are ways to navigate the forecast, not rules about how a room must be painted. A palette can be a source of ideas without every shade being used together or across an entire room.

How to test a forecast color before painting
- Shortlist a few shades. Use the forecast images and shade names to identify colors that work with existing flooring, cabinetry, furniture and trim.
- Get samples. Sherwin-Williams offers color chips, peel-and-stick samples and paint samples through its official forecast page.
- Check the colors in your room. Place samples where you plan to use the paint and observe them in the room’s actual lighting. Compare them with nearby fixed finishes rather than judging a shade alone on a screen.
- Use the room-visualization option if helpful. Sherwin-Williams’ announcement points to the Color Expert app for virtually trying hues in rooms; a visualization is a preview, not a substitute for seeing a physical sample in your space.
The practical decision is how a candidate shade looks alongside your room’s materials and light—not whether it belongs to a forecast palette.

No. Sherwin-Williams’ 2025 Color Capsule of the Year is a separate nine-color capsule, not another name for the 48-hue Colormix Forecast or its four palettes. The company identifies Bosc Pear SW 6390 as a quintessential color from the Wellspring palette. Its separate Color of the Year page gives White Snow SW 9541 a light reflectance value of 90; that figure applies to White Snow, not to the Colormix Forecast as a whole.
