For free studio-background downloads, start with a catalog that offers the format you need: photos for ready-to-use images, vectors for scalable artwork, or PSDs and templates when you need an editable project. Freepik, Unsplash and Adobe Stock surface different kinds of results; check each individual listing for its current availability, cost label, format and license before using it.
Where to find studio-background downloads
Freepik: filter by asset type
Freepik’s studio-background catalog offers category controls for photos, vectors, PSDs, templates, mockups and other asset types. Use the format filters to narrow the catalog, then open a result to check its details. A particular combination of filters may return no results, so a free PSD is not guaranteed for every search.
Unsplash: search for photographs
Unsplash’s studio-background search focuses on photos and related searches such as “studio backdrop” and “photo studio background.” Results can include regular downloads and items labeled Unsplash+, so check the label on the image you select.
Adobe Stock: free backdrops and templates
Adobe Stock has a free studio-backdrop collection, as well as a separate studio-backdrop template search. Adobe says downloads from its free collection receive a royalty-free commercial-use license, subject to restrictions. Check the selected asset’s terms and current listing before relying on that license.

Choose a format for the way you plan to work

Catalog format labels are useful for narrowing a search, but they do not establish compatibility with every program or guarantee what an individual file contains. Confirm both on the asset listing.
Check the license before using a download
Unsplash images
The Unsplash License permits free commercial and noncommercial use without required attribution. It prohibits selling an image without significant modification and compiling images to replicate a competing service. The license does not grant rights to trademarks, recognizable people or copyrighted works depicted in an image; depending on how you use it, you may need separate permission for those.

Adobe Stock free collection
Adobe says an item downloaded from its free collection receives a royalty-free commercial-use license, but restrictions apply. Its license information describes limits on redistribution and license-specific reproduction thresholds. Read the terms for the chosen asset especially carefully if you plan to include it in a product, template or other downloadable package.
Freepik listings
Freepik’s catalog includes license-related filters, but the terms can depend on the asset and account tier. Open the selected listing and check its license information before commercial use rather than assuming every result has the same terms.

A quick checklist before downloading
- Pick the asset type. Decide whether you need a finished photo, scalable vector, editable PSD or template.
- Confirm availability and cost. Check the specific listing for a free, paid or subscription label; search results can change and are not a promise that a particular file will remain available.
- Read the license for your use. Check commercial-use conditions, attribution requirements and restrictions on redistribution or inclusion in products.
- Consider what the image depicts. A stock license may not cover separate rights to people, logos, trademarks or artwork visible in the image.
- Verify your workflow. Confirm the download’s actual file type and that your software can use it.
