Choose a pattern structure

Build a doorway composition around it
If you want more than a floor pattern, treat the kolam as the center of a wider entrance arrangement. A mango-leaf toran or marigold garland can frame the doorway, while a brass lamp or kuthu vilakku can sit nearby if that suits your household. Keep these accents secondary so they do not obscure the kolam’s outline. Use a considered palette
Yellow, orange, and green are among the colours highlighted in the 2026 décor guide. For a poster or greeting card, translate the doorway composition rather than presenting a digital illustration as a household ritual: use a padi border or pulli-inspired geometry as a frame, then place a lamp, flower, or peacock illustration as the focal point.
