A Teachers’ Day tarpapel is a large design printed across ordinary sheets of paper, then joined to make one banner or poster. Plan the finished size first, make “Salamat, Guro!” the visual focus, and leave room for your school name and year. This is a practical do-it-yourself option for an indoor display; the right choice depends on where it will be used and how durable it needs to be.
What to put in a Teachers’ Day tarpapel design
Keep the message readable from a distance. A short greeting works better as the main headline than a long paragraph. Add only the details the display needs, such as the school name, celebration year, or teachers’ names.
- Main message: Use a brief greeting such as “Salamat, Guro!”
- School details: Reserve clear space for the school name and year rather than squeezing them around the headline.
- Teachers’ names: Include names only if the finished design leaves enough space to read them easily.
- Decoration: Blue and gold, laurel motifs, and chalkboard details are possible design directions, not required Teachers’ Day rules.
Check with the school for required wording, logos, or formats before printing; there is no established national template in the cited material that applies to every school.
Plan the dimensions and layout before printing
Measure the place where the display will go and decide its finished width and height before designing. Scale the headline and secondary information for that final size: details that look legible on a computer screen can become too small when printed across separate sheets.

A Department of Education Region VIII guide gives one concrete format for its cut-out display frame: 5 A4 sheets wide by 4 sheets high, approximately 105 cm by 84 cm. That is an example for the guide’s frame, not a universal size for a Teachers’ Day banner. Use the dimensions that fit your own display location.
How to make a tarpapel
- Set the finished size. Measure the display area and choose the overall width and height. Keep space around the headline and school details so they are not crowded at the edges.
- Create one complete design. Make the full layout in a design or word-processing tool, with the greeting, school information, and decoration in their intended positions.
- Tile the layout for printing. Set the design to print across multiple standard sheets. Check the print preview and page order so the complete image can be assembled correctly.
- Print and arrange the sheets. Use a color printer and ordinary paper, then lay out the pages in order on a flat surface. Check that the image and any text align across the joins.
- Trim and join. Trim overlapping or unwanted edges where needed, then connect the sheets with tape or glue to form one display.
- Add backing if it must stand upright. For a freestanding display, the DepEd Region VIII guide lists illustration board, corrugated board, foam board, or tarpaulin as possible sturdy backing materials.
Paper tarpapel or professionally printed tarpaulin?
Neither option is always better. A tiled paper display can be a practical do-it-yourself choice for an indoor, single-use event. A professionally printed tarpaulin is worth considering when the display needs to be especially large or exposed to weather. The available sources do not establish a reliable cost or time saving for either choice, so decide based on the actual project rather than an assumed percentage.

Set up a freestanding display safely
Sturdy backing can help a display stand upright, as the Department of Education Region VIII guide advises. Position it where people can see it, but make sure it is stable and does not obstruct walkways, exits, or emergency routes.
