How to browse the galleries
- For the Sun’s appearance: Look for close ground-based images that show the corona around the Moon’s dark disk.
- For the event’s progression: Seek images arranged as a sequence; a progression communicates change that a single frame cannot.
- For human and local context: AP’s reporting and weekly curation foreground the places and people along the eclipse route.
- For a planetary perspective: NASA’s DSCOVR EPIC gallery shows the eclipse from space, with Earth and the Moon’s shadow as the frame’s focus.
Check each image’s own caption for photographer, location, and source context. Gallery pages may contain different kinds of imagery, so do not assume that every image is a single exposure or a composite unless its source identifies it that way.
