AllPeopleQuilt’s “Tulip Time Table Topper” is a free quilt pattern for a square topper measuring 30½ inches finished. It uses four pieced tulip blocks, each 12 inches finished, arranged in a square center with borders. The project page offers a “Download this Project” link for the pattern and its template pieces.
Finished size and pattern details
AllPeopleQuilt’s pattern, published January 18, 2022, specifies a finished size of 30½ inches square. Its four tulip blocks finish at 12 inches square each. The four-block center measures 24½ inches square before the borders are added.
The project page identifies the fabrics shown as part of the Canvas collection by Deborah Edwards for Northcott. That is the collection used for the pictured project, not a stated requirement: the pattern lists colors and quantities, so substitute fabrics can be chosen to match those specifications. The design is inspired by “Tulip Bed” by Jo Kramer and Kelli Hanken; Diane Tomlinson is credited as quilt tester.

Fabric and batting required
The pattern’s yardages and cutting directions assume 42 inches of usable fabric width. Gather:
- One 10-inch square each of mottled orange, purple, red, and teal
- ½ yard solid white
- ¼ yard mottled green
- ½ yard mottled yellow, also used for binding
- ½ yard mottled blue for the border
- 1⅛ yards backing fabric
- One 39-inch-square piece of batting
The pattern calls for multiple measured shapes, including squares, triangles, rectangles, and template-cut pieces for the tulips. Its specified binding strips are 2½ inches by 42 inches. For the blue borders, cut strips measuring 3½ by 30½ inches and 3½ by 24½ inches, as directed in the pattern. Use the project download for the complete cutting list and templates rather than treating these examples as a substitute for it.

How the topper is assembled
- Cut the pieces. Follow the downloadable pattern’s cutting list and template shapes. The instructions use a ¼-inch seam allowance.
- Make four tulip blocks. Construct one block in each of the four colors, joining paired triangles and template-cut pieces to form the flower and stem components. Each block should measure 12½ inches square with seam allowances, yielding a 12-inch finished block.
- Join the center. Sew the four blocks together into a center measuring 24½ inches square, including seam allowances.
- Add the borders. Attach the blue border strips to opposite sides first, then add the remaining strips to complete the square top.
- Quilt and bind. Layer the top with batting and backing, baste, quilt as desired, and bind with the yellow binding strips.

Do not confuse it with the Tulip Time table runner
Missouri Star also lists a “Tulip Time Table Runner,” but it is a separate project, not another name for this square topper. Its listing describes a 15-by-49-inch runner made with one package of 5-inch squares plus contrasting and background fabric. The AllPeopleQuilt topper instead finishes at 30½ inches square and uses several measured cuts and templates. Choose instructions and supplies for the specific project you intend to make.

What the pattern does not specify
The AllPeopleQuilt project page does not give a skill rating, estimated completion time, or prescribed quilting design. A rotary cutter and quilting ruler may be convenient for the measured cuts, but the pattern does not require or specify them.
