After Universal Music Group and Udio settled copyright litigation on October 29, 2025, they agreed to build a licensed AI music creation platform trained on authorized music. UMG’s announcement describes that agreement. As part of the transition, song downloads were disabled, and the planned service is designed to keep generated tracks inside the platform, according to Billboard’s account of the deal.

Warner Music Group announced a separate settlement and collaboration with Udio on November 19, 2025. Udio later added deals with Merlin and, in April 2026, Kobalt. Warner’s announcement and the Kobalt report describe those agreements.
In May 2026, Udio described a licensed app called Starstruck with Cover, Reimagine, Remix, and Create modes; it said the app would launch later in 2026.
