The regular model suits someone who wants a surface integrated into the seating composition and likes the strongest asymmetrical statement. Compact may make more sense when two armrests are more useful than a platform, but the available evidence does not establish a universal space saving or comfort advantage. Compare the exact current footprint, arm positions and access requirements for the model and orientation you are considering.

Architectural Digest associate digital features editor Rachel Davies tested the sofa and described it as very comfortable and supportive for her preference for a semi-firm seat. She also found it comfortable to lie on at approximately 5 ft 9 in. Her conclusion was notably positive: "My concern with this supercool-looking sofa is that it would be a lot more interesting to look at than it would be comfortable, but I was delighted to find that it’s über-comfortable."
Those observations are one reviewer’s experience, not standardized testing, a durability guarantee or a promise that every person will prefer the same firmness. Seat comfort changes with body proportions, posture, cushion position and expectations about softness. If you can visit a showroom, sit in your usual positions for several minutes, try the platform side and test whether the back support works without additional pillows.
