“Instagram frame” can mean three different things: a Frames sticker for an Instagram Story, a photo-prop board for an event, or an ordinary frame for a printed photo. The right instructions depend on which one you mean.
Instagram Frames stickers for Stories
A Frames sticker is a digital Story effect, not a physical picture frame. A May 10, 2024 how-to from TOI Tech Desk at The Times of India described it as a pre-designed frame that can be added to a Story photo or video. Those steps are dated instructions, not confirmation that the feature is available to every account or region today.

Steps reported in 2024
- Create an Instagram Story and open the sticker tray.
- Choose “Frames,” then select a design.
- Pick the photo or video to place in the frame. The 2024 instructions also describe adding text, stickers, or drawings afterward.
If “Frames” is not in your sticker tray, check the current app interface; the 2024 article does not establish present-day availability. It also describes a “shake to reveal” interaction for viewers, but that is a dated interface detail and should not be assumed to work currently.
Can you make a custom Frames sticker?
The same 2024 article says Instagram did not offer a way to create a custom frame sticker directly. It describes Cutouts as a separate workaround for a similar visual effect—not as a custom Frames feature.

Instagram-style frames for events
An event Instagram frame is a physical board or installation with an opening for people to pose behind. Printers describe options made from Forex, foam board, or Corex, with custom names, logos, colors, or hashtags. These are vendor-specific products rather than standardized specifications.
Choose handheld or freestanding
- Handheld: Portable and suited to posed group photos. One Dubai vendor lists A0 and A1 options, describing A0 for groups up to three and A1 for two.
- Freestanding: Better suited to a larger installation people can stand behind. The same Dubai vendor lists a 300 × 200 cm model made from MDF with detachable back support.
Those sizes, materials, and group capacities are that vendor’s specifications, not general rules. A Lagos printer, for example, lists a foam-board product at 2 ft × 3 ft and says other sizes and templates are available. Another Lagos vendor describes lightweight Corex with full-color printing and a cutout opening. Compare dimensions, board material, support or stability, customization, delivery area, and lead time with the supplier before ordering.

What to put on the prop
Vendors offer personalization such as names, logos, event colors, and hashtags. Confirm spelling, artwork, dimensions, and the visible area around the cutout in the proof. Claims that props increase reach or user-generated content are promotional; the available vendor pages do not establish a measured performance benefit.

If you mean a frame for a printed social photo, buy by the physical print dimensions—not by the fact that the image came from Instagram. A US frame designer lists square sizes of 4×4, 5×5, 6×6, and 8×8 inches, along with rectangular 4×6 and 5×7 inch sizes. These are one designer’s offerings, not required Instagram print dimensions.

Measure the print and match it to a frame or mat opening. The designer also offers wood frames, mats, acrylic glazing, and multi-opening collage mats; check the listing for the exact fit and options you need.
