The xTool P2S is a 55W desktop CO₂ laser cutter and engraver with an enclosed design, but whether it fits your workspace depends on more than its headline power: check the exact laser-class configuration, regional voltage, exhaust and fume plan, and the dimensions of workpieces you intend to process. xTool’s published specifications and safety guidance are useful for assessing fit; independent performance testing and current pricing are not established here.
Is the xTool P2S worth it?
The P2S is worth considering if you want an enclosed desktop CO₂ machine for cutting and engraving and are prepared to manage fumes, fire risk, and installation requirements. xTool lists a maximum working-laser output of 55 W and a wavelength of 10.6 μm in its P2S Safety First documentation. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.
There is not enough evidence here to make a value-for-money verdict or rank the P2S against other cutters: no independent cut-quality, speed, or reliability tests, competitor benchmarks, or current transaction prices were established. Before buying, confirm the precise model and bundle available in your region, what accessories are included, and whether the machine’s installation and safety requirements fit your intended projects.

What can the xTool P2S cut and engrave?
The P2S is designed for laser cutting and engraving, but its practical suitability depends on the specific material, thickness, project dimensions, and process settings. The cited xTool material establishes the machine’s general purpose and specifications, not independently verified cut results for particular materials or thicknesses. Do not treat the 55 W rating as a guarantee that it will cut every material or thickness you have in mind.
Material choice is also a safety decision. xTool warns against processing PVC or vinyl and against processing unknown materials. It explains that chlorine-containing materials may release corrosive vapor and that materials including PVC and polycarbonate can produce harmful smoke. Check the composition of a material before processing it, and follow the current manufacturer guidance rather than relying on appearance or a generic material label.

Is the xTool P2S safe to use at home?
The machine’s enclosure does not remove the need for active safety practices. xTool documents two configurations, Class 1 and Class 4, with different exposure risks. Its safety documentation says the Class 4 version can expose users to diffused Class 4 radiation through openings if the lid is lifted or the baseplate is removed; xTool describes that version as intended for professional use and calls for additional precautions. Verify which laser class is offered in your market and which configuration you are purchasing.
Control fire and fume risks
- Keep flammable materials and volatile solvents clear of the workspace. xTool warns that laser processing can ignite flammable materials.
- Do not leave the machine running unattended. xTool’s instruction is: “Do not leave the device unattended during operation.”
- Keep a fire extinguisher available and inspect it regularly, as xTool recommends.
- Plan how fumes will be exhausted or managed for your material and room. An accessory listing alone does not establish that a setup is adequate.
Use the precautions for your laser class
xTool’s guidance says users of the Class 4 model should wear eye protection that shields against 10.6 μm laser beams. Do not assume the Class 1 and Class 4 versions have the same exposure profile, or that an enclosure makes it safe to defeat an interlock, open the lid during operation, or remove the baseplate. Follow the instructions for the exact configuration.

What is the difference between the Class 1 and Class 4 P2S?
xTool describes the Class 1 version as an enclosed machine with interlock behavior. Its Class 4 version has greater exposure risk if opened or used without the baseplate; the manufacturer says diffused Class 4 radiation may be present at openings under those conditions. xTool characterizes the Class 4 model as intended for professional use and requiring more precautions. These are manufacturer descriptions, not an independent safety certification assessment. Confirm the class and safeguards of the specific unit rather than relying on a listing that simply says “P2S.”
Does the xTool P2S need an air purifier?
It needs a considered fume-management plan; whether that involves an air purifier depends on the material, room, exhaust arrangement, and applicable local requirements. xTool lists its SafetyPro AP2 in P2/P2S accessory material, but the cited information does not establish its filtration performance or prove that it is sufficient for a particular material or room. Do not treat purchasing a purifier as a substitute for checking the machine’s instructions and planning suitable exhaust.

xTool also says the P2S does not support an external air pump: its FAQ says the machine relies on real-time communication with its built-in pump. That is separate from the question of how to manage fumes in the workspace.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can the xTool P2S engrave tumblers?
Yes, xTool says its RA2/RA2 Pro rotary attachment can process regular and irregular cylindrical materials with the P2/P2S. For rotary work, xTool recommends the riser base to raise the machine and accommodate a wider range of materials. Check the instructions for your exact setup before buying: the stated cylinder range differs between a baseplate-only arrangement and one using the riser, and dimensions and setup depend on the workpiece.

- 100% fit with xTool P2/P2S , Fewer Drops, Maximum Efficiency.
- Prevent cutting pieces from falling through and getting burned.
- Easy set-up and batch engraving.
xTool’s RA2 Pro product page lists these accessory ranges: roller diameter 3–198 mm, chuck 0–100 mm, sphere 25–100 mm, and ring 11–70 mm. They are RA2 Pro specifications, not a guarantee that every range applies to every P2S configuration. Check the current manual and measure the object, including its shape and usable engraving area, before choosing a rotary workflow.
What voltage does the xTool P2S use?
Voltage depends on region. In its FAQ updated in 2026, xTool says US versions use 110 V and versions in some other regions use 220 V; it also says the P2S is not wide-voltage. The same FAQ lists 700 W input power. Confirm the voltage on the device label and the local power requirements before installation rather than assuming a unit from another region will work on your supply.
Quick Recap
What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the exact configuration. Ask whether the offered unit is Class 1 or Class 4, and verify the included safeguards and accessories for that specific version.
- Match power to your location. Check the device’s regional voltage and installation requirements before ordering.
- Plan for the materials you will process. Avoid PVC, vinyl, and unknown materials; identify an appropriate fume-management approach for the materials and room.
- Measure your projects. Check the usable work area and, for tumblers or other cylinders, confirm rotary and riser compatibility against the current setup instructions.
- Compare the complete ownership setup. Verify current price, bundle contents, exhaust needs, accessories, service terms, and local availability. Published specifications alone do not establish the total cost or performance you will get.
