To download a Yoga Day PNG for a design, first confirm that the file really has a transparent background, then check the license on that exact image before sharing, printing, or using it commercially. International Day of Yoga is observed every year on 21 June; the United Nations’ 2026 theme is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
What to check before downloading a Yoga Day PNG
A PNG can be suitable for layering over a poster, social post, or presentation, but the file extension alone does not guarantee transparency or permission to reuse it. Check the individual listing for these details:

- Background: Look for an explicit transparency label, then verify the image preview or downloaded file. A checkerboard pattern in a preview often indicates transparent areas, while a white area may be part of the image itself.
- Format and dimensions: Confirm it is a PNG and has enough pixels for the intended placement. One PNG Wing listing reports 5533 × 5417 pixels; that specification applies only to that listing, not to Yoga Day images generally. View the PNG Wing listing.
- Artwork: Decide whether you need an event logo, an informational poster, a decorative yoga illustration, or a photograph. Check that any text or theme in the design matches the year and purpose of your project.
- Reuse terms: Read the license or use notice on the image’s own page. “Free download” describes access, not necessarily permission for commercial use or unrestricted editing.
Free download does not always mean free commercial use
Licenses vary from file to file, even when images appear in similar search results. PNG Wing’s surfaced listing is tagged “transparent” and “free download,” but its displayed use notice says “Non-commercial use.” Do not assume it permits use in paid advertising, products for sale, or other commercial work; check the listing’s current terms. A separate Wikimedia Commons example—a 2025 poster—shows a CC BY 4.0 license. That license requires appropriate credit, a link to the license, and an indication of changes if you modified the work. Those terms belong to that poster, not to every Yoga Day image on Commons. Review the example poster’s file page.

Commons’ International Yoga Day category can help locate reference material and image files, but each file has its own rights information. Check the specific file page rather than relying on the category listing. If an image contains an official logo, seal, or government or UN symbol, an image license alone may not grant permission to use the symbol as an endorsement or in a restricted way.
How to choose an image for your project

International Day of Yoga: date and background
The United Nations observes International Day of Yoga every year on 21 June. The General Assembly proclaimed the day on 11 December 2014 through resolution 69/131. The UN says the draft resolution was proposed by India and endorsed by 175 member states. Read the UN account of the observance and confirm the annual date.

The UN describes yoga as an ancient physical, mental, and spiritual practice originating in India. The observance aims to raise worldwide awareness of yoga’s benefits. Read the UN’s description.
For a general-purpose design, a non-year-specific yoga image may remain usable after the event date. If the artwork names a particular year, displays a theme, or uses event branding, check that it matches the edition you are promoting.
